Whew what a day. We rolled in Friday for what we knew was going to be a long day of racing at Little Wall. Due to weather, the two day titan show was crammed into one. With that in mind we stuck with 3 cars for this one, Senior Honda, Light 160, and Senior Animal. Gavin has difficulty here, and our setups arent always on point, so we knew we had an uphill battle.
Firstly, huge thank you to the members at Wall that checked in with us throughout the weekend to make sure we were ok. Just being there was part of the initial challenge but the support was greatly appreciated.
Friday we practiced with extremely loose race cars. We made some major adjustments and hoped for the best.
Senior Honda- Soundwave was scary loose all weekend no matter what adjustments we made. We got the car into the B main, and that's where it sat.
Light 160- This car was a nightmare initially. We went over the car the night before, but somehow the fuel valve was off between practice and the heat race, then the fuel cap flew off in the heat, which is a DQ. The crew chief is trying to do too much at once, and screwed that one up, putting Gavin to the rear of the lowest main. He battled his way through the B main to a transfer spot, and finished 7th in the A main. -Making an A main for us at this track is a win in our books_
After the Honda's there was a break for doing a few laps around the track at Big wall. Gavin decided to just rip the 160 around the place as fast as he could. There's a video of him weaving through the field lol. Patrick Force Racing thanks for pushing us out
Senior Animal- Briggs classes usually have their own day. So cramming this in was going to be alot. Devastator was on the pole for the heat, held second with 2 to go when Gav made a crucial mistake sending him to the back, putting us in the C main.
The c main was filled with our Oaklane buddies so it was a fun race to watch. Gavin drove himself through the field to Grab a transfer spot, finishing second.
The B main was again a battle, Gavin again drove himself through the field, getting up to our buddy Blake who was like lightening out there. He was able to barely squeak by him in turn 2 of the last lap, grabbing final transfer spot. Gav was happy to be in the A but simultaneously felt bad for knocking out one of his buddies.
A main....the A main fired off at after 11, and the kid and his car had about had it. He tried with a car that was very loose from what we think was the tires just not having enough left in them, finishing 10th... and earning the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars on Briggs day.
We may not get podiums at regionals often, but if there's a lower main Gavin will find it and Drive out of it, never taking the easy way. Once of our racing friends thinks we should sponsor the award next season lol.
