Yoga Health & Happiness

Yoga teaches us to live a balanced life in a balanced body. It helps us to become healthier, happier, and to live life to the fullest. Hello, my name is Sarah.

It helps us make space in our lives for the things that are truly important and to be present in those moments. I have been practicing yoga since 2005 and teaching since 2013. Yoga has the power to create positive transformation by bringing balance to our bodies and our lives. As I experienced the benefits of a regular practice, I found myself wanting to share yoga with others. In 2014, I began to

Hello Facebook Friends,

My husband and I have some exciting news. We are moving to Phoenix. This is something that we have wanted for a long time but we didn't expect it to happen so soon or happen so quickly. This is an adventure for us and while I am excited and happy about it, I am also sad to be leaving.

I have loved teaching yoga here, and I love the community we have created together. Fizek has been a second home and my students are a second family. I will miss you all.

I want to see as many of you as possible before I leave. I will be teaching the rest of this week and all of next week. My last class will be Thursday morning, January 30th at 9:30.

I am not sure what will be happening with the classes I currently teach, but Margo is working on it and she is awesome! I will share that info as soon as I know.

Yoga is the best teacher. 💜⁣

Living ethically, according to Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, is the first step on the true path of yoga.

The first yama is perhaps the most famous one: ahimsa, usually translated as "nonviolence." This refers not only to physical violence, but also to the violence of words or thoughts. What we think about ourselves or others can be as powerful as any physical attempt to harm. To practice ahimsa is to be constantly vigilant, to observe ourselves in interaction with others and to notice our thoughts and intentions. Try practicing ahimsa by observing your thoughts when a smoker sits next to you. Your thoughts may be just as damaging to you as his cigarette is to him.

So it has been a while since a created a blog post. I have been thinking about this idea a lot lately and wanted to share some thoughts. I am interested to see how other people feel about this idea, so please feel free to share your thoughts and insights. We are all teachers and all students in this big crazy world.

WE ARE ALL JUST DOING THE BEST WE CAN WITH WHAT WE HAVE, GIVEN OUR PAST EXPERIENCES, AND OUR CURRENT STATE OF MIND. ~ Sarah Garcia

I have been thinking about this a lot lately and wondering if it is really true. I have chosen to believe it is because it helps me to release judgment of others and myself and to be more compassionate. The more I think about this, the more I believe it really is the truth in the vast majority of cases. Hear me out:

WE ARE ALL JUST DOING THE BEST WE CAN WITH WHAT WE HAVE,
By what we have, I mean our resources: our time, money, energy, and anything we have available to us in order to accomplish a task, get through a challenge, or manage an event.

GIVEN OUR PAST EXPERIENCES,
Our past experiences and the way we respond to them shape the way in which the world occurs for us, our perspectives, and our way of being. Our past experiences and our current circumstances create our current state of mind.

AND OUR CURRENT STATE OF MIND
Our current state of mind determines our priorities and intentions. It determines our motivations, or lack thereof. It dictates how well or poorly we will use and allocate our resources. All of this is what ultimately indicates how successful or unsuccessful we will be in any situation.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH OURSELVES?
There are times when our best won’t be enough. Occasionally, we will fail to meet our own expectations and the expectations of others. At times we will fail to maintain agreements and commitments we have made to ourselves and others. In these times, I choose to believe I am doing the best I can.

Thinking this way does not mean that we let ourselves off the hook. Often, we need to have an internal conversation in order create change, understand our failures, or improve our level of performance. Believing, that we are all doing the best we can, allows us to do this without judging or shaming ourselves. It gives us the opportunity to develop a greater sense of self awareness and understand how our state of mind is affecting the outcome of success and failure in our lives.

HOW THIS AFFECTS OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS?
Sometimes our family, friends, and acquaintances will fail to support us, fail to meet our needs and expectations, and fail to maintain their agreements and commitments to us. Again In these times I choose to believe they are just doing the best they can.

Thinking this way does not mean we should dismiss their failures or bad behavior. We may need to have conversation with them in order to ask or for more, for change, for a higher level of performance. Believing, that that they are doing the best we can, allows us to have these conversations without expressing judgement, without assign blame, and without attempting to satisfy some expression of anger. Essentially we are giving them the benefit of the doubt.

The purposes of the conversation is to help them become aware of how of their state of mind is affecting their actions, or creating a lack of action, and how that is ultimately affecting themselves, others, and the use of their resources. The purpose of the conversation is to help this person to understand, how and why they are being a certain way. Helping them to develop a deeper level of self-awareness, re-evaluate their priorities, and better use their resources. While there may be a request to accept responsibility, there is no blame; there is no judgment, only compassion.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS
I can’t say conclusively that this way of thinking is true in all cases, but I choose to believe it is. There are certainly situations where our behavior and the behavior of others can be hurtful and unacceptable. I wonder if this line of thinking is true in those situations when we take into consideration a person’s state of mind and how that affects their actions. Even so, I am not saying that we should excuse the bad behavior or hurtful actions. At times we may have to walk away from hurtful relationships or situations. Even then I believe this line of thinking would help us to do so with compassion and without being judgmental of ourselves and others.

Exciting news!
My yoga classes will continue to be 1 hour and 15 minuets long. This is wonderful because it gives us more time on the mat and a longer Savasana, which is the best part of class!

Heading into fall our schedule will remain the same:
Monday and Wednesday 4:15-5:30 pm
Monday and Wednesday 6:30-7:45 pm
Tuesday and Thursday 9:30-10:45 am

Classes are starting for EAC's Fall session start August 19th!

Hello Friends, I am taking next week off and all of my yoga classes are cancelled from August 5-9. Generally, I only cancel classes when I am out of town. This time, I am taking time off for myself, to recoup, refresh, and renew. Occasionally, we all need time for ourselves so that we can be at our best when serving others. I will resume teaching on August 12th and I look forward to seeing you then!

Monday August 12th I will be teaching at 4:15 and 6:30!

Our Story

Hello, my name is Sarah. I have been practicing yoga since 2005 and teaching since 2013. Yoga has the power to create positive transformation by bringing balance to our bodies and our lives. As I experienced the benefits of a regular practice, I found myself wanting to share yoga with others. In 2014, I began to study with the Anusara School of Hatha Yoga through Yoga Village in Scottsdale, AZ. As of 2017, I have graduated with a 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification and I am registered with Yoga Alliance. Additionally, I have attended Advanced Yoga Teacher Training and a variety of workshops in order to refine my skills and knowledge. I teach both active and gentle classes with a strong focus on physical alignment. Yoga has helped me to create a life filled with profound peace, joy, and freedom and I am excited to share the benefits of this practice with my friends and community.

I have created this page to provide information on yoga and encourage people in the Gila Valley to practice. Yoga is transformative. It helps to unite the mind, body, and spirit through the practice of physical poses, breathing exercises and meditation.

Yoga increases general mobility, flexibility, and strength in the body. It improves posture and circulation and also decreases stress levels, combating depression. Yoga helps us to embody and embrace the best version of ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I am confident that the addition of a regular yoga practice will make a positive difference in your life.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my page. I hope you enjoy the info I have shared here.
