If you weren't able to make it to the meeting tonight, here's what we went over!
Practice schedule:
Ages 5/6 Monday and Wednesday 5:15pm-6pm
Ages 7-9 Monday and Wednesday 6:15pm-7:30pm
Ages 10+ Tuesday and Thursday 6pm-7:30pm
Practice begins September 28th and regular season will end on November 5th.
Parents or guardians of younger wrestlers do need to be present during practices.
An extended season will be offered to those competing in tournaments and an additional $20 will be due to the club in November.
Please bring the following to practice:
Wrestling shoes or socks (no bare feet or street shoes on the mats)
Comfy clothes (no buttons or zippers)
Water bottle
Nails clipped short
No jewelry, stud earrings may be covered with medical tape
Parents, guardians, siblings and spectators must also not wear street shoes or be barefoot on the wrestling mats. This is to ensure the mats are sanitary while our kids are rolling around. Only socks or wrestling shoes are allowed on the mat.
Wrestlers should take a shower after practice. This is important not only for hygiene, but to remove any possible bacteria that could lead to skin infections.
If you have expressed interest in volunteering, your background screening must be completed before you're able to help on the mat. Background screenings will be completed through USA Wrestling and add The Gorge Wrestling Club as the affiliated club. If you plan to compete in tournaments, you will need to purchase a USA Wrestling card. They are $65 and can also be purchased through USA Wrestling. Wrestling cards can be purchased at any point during the season.
If you would like to purchase a team singlet for tournaments, please reach out to us so we can add it to the order form. A team singlet is $40 or $45 if you'd like it personalized. We have gold and purple singlets! Singlet orders must be in and paid for by the end of practice 9/29.
The list of tournaments will be posted on our page tomorrow as well as age/weight brackets.
Parents will be sent an invitation to the Band app after registration closes. You must create an account as this will be the primary form of communication throughout the season.
