Registration is now OPEN for 2 Fitness Seminars taught by me!

June 28th at Bayshore Companion Dog Club

Each seminar will kick off with a presentation on the benefits of fitness for the canine athlete, covering the “Whys” and “Whens” of working out, then move into the “Hows” with the dogs. We will also cover warm-up and cool-down exercises by doing warm-ups
at the start and cool-downs at the end. Participants will learn a variety of fitness exercises that cover all aspects of the canine athlete’s form and function, and by the end, should have a good handle on how to implement these exercises into their regular training program.

Handler/Dog teams with marker skills are encouraged to bring along their clickers, if they use them. Please bring treats your dog loves as well, keep the value high! No other equipment is needed as the club has plenty to use.

Pre-Requisites:
Dogs must be over 6 months of age, healthy, and cleared for fitness exercises.
This is not rehabilitation work, and neither injured nor post-op dogs may participate.

Seminar #1 is from 9a - 1p and
Seminar #2 is from 2p - 6p - these are identical seminars.

Cost: $130 for BCDC members,
$160 for non-members.

Join our experienced instructors for Fetching Fridays! Sort of like a group class, sort of like an Open Dock, these Friday sessions are for experienced jumping dogs to come and practice their skills with the aid of a little coach’s eye.

You can practice Big Air, Air Retrieve, or a Swim Game, and we will help you troubleshoot, hone a particular skill, or just give general feedback to help you with your game, speed, distance, or power.

Cost is $45 per Handler/Dog team - you will receive a minimum of three turns on the dock.

We are back in action at the Tail Waggin' pool in Robbinsville, NJ, in just a couple of short weeks!

We are firming up the teaching schedule now and expect to be kicking off lessons and group classes the week of May 4th, which is right around the corner! Let's hope Mother Nature keeps playing nice for us.

My standard teaching days will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I will be offering privates during those afternoon hours, plus we will have some daytime group classes available. Look for some fun Friday offerings to be on deck as well!

Look for some mini-clinics as well this summer on weekday evenings featuring swimming, fetching and throwing - all the good stuff!

The same system for booking Private Lessons applies this year. We arrange a date and time, I send you an invoice, you pay through my Shopify system - easy peasy. All payments are expected in advance of the scheduled lesson unless otherwise arranged.

Join us at the TailWaggin’ Pool in Robbinsville, NJ, for a one-day Fun Jump to benefit Bayshore Companion Dog Club. The day will feature three distance jumps and Finals with ribbons and prizes for the top 3 finalists in each division.

Finals - 4pm

The Dog and Handler team must participate in a minimum of two jumps to be eligible for Finals. The top 6 teams in each division will go to Finals.

Novice: 1” to 9’11”
Junior: 10’ to 14’11”
Senior: 15’ to 19’11”
Master: 20’ to 22’ 5”
Elite: 22’6” and up

Raffle Table will benefit the AKC Agility League Teams heading to Nationals in the fall!

Let’s Get That Bumper!
9am — $150
Space is limited to ensure quality dock time for all teams

Join us for a beginner seminar to learn how to play the game known as Fetch It! or Air Retrieve. It has many names but is all one simple concept: the bumper is hung 4’ above the water, and the dogs jump off the dock to sn**ch it off the strings. With each successful grab, the bumper is moved out in 1’ increments.
This is one of the most fun games to play in dock diving and also one of the most challenging!
It involves brains and brawn, and with a good foundation, it will help your dog’s distance jumping as well.

Though this is a beginner seminar for the game, it is NOT for beginner dock divers. This seminar is only for dogs who are confidently jumping off the dock without hesitation. If you are unsure whether your dog is ready for it, please reach out, and we can discuss it.

Let’s Practice Getting That Bumper!
1130am - 2pm
$60

This is an open practice for dogs who already play Fetch It! / Air Retrieve and is an opportunity to practice your team skills, get some coaching and learn from other teams as we troubleshoot and perfect your steps playing this super fun game!
When you register, you will give your starting distance and we will work the practice time in a round robin manner while still allowing each team a chance to hone their skills as needed. We will be using either the NADD approved AR bumpers or double string foamies - you can choose which you’d like to use.

Space will be limited to allow for concentrated work for each team. Working spots only, no audits, no guests. To register, send an email to: [email protected]. Once your spot has been approved, an invoice for payment will be sent.

A brand-new 50’ pool and a fabulous new dock are being built right now at Tail Waggin Events, and though an opening date is not firm yet, as soon as we have one, y’all will know it!

In the meantime, expect an offering of lessons, classes, seminars, rentals, and special events like last year but even better!
Darlene and I are currently hammering out schedules and working on details, so we can’t book anything yet, but once we are ready - we both will be sure to email, post, and reach out to be sure everyone knows.

With all apologies, we are postponing this Shed Hunt to January 31, February 2, and 3, 2025. I, Heather, have gone and broken my danged foot and am on doctor's orders to be resting or in a boot for the next 2-4 weeks minimum.
If you have already sent in your entry and can come in January, just let me know and I'll hang onto it. Refunds are on the way to anyone who can't.
The seminars and lessons I have posted and booked are all being rescheduled as well, hopefully for late November or early December.

It's Shed Huntin' time!!!

I have some learning opportunities on the near horizon out on Darlene's property in Robbinsville, NJ where we had the pool this past summer. Details and registrations are available on my website:

The trial is November 1-3rd in Farmingdale and I can help prepare your dog. Here are some details...hit me up!

I have two Intro to Shed Hunt Seminars planned at this time.

With each seminar, the morning session will consist of an in-depth Introduction to the activity and organized sport of hunting for shed antlers. We will explain how the sport works and how to title and progress through the UKC program. We will then get into a rough outline of how we get dogs started on antlers followed by a demo by two or three experienced dogs to show you how a general event hunt run may go.

We will take a short break for sustenance and then move into the afternoon session.

Those who bring dogs and wish to stay and work may do so, you may choose to stay and audit the afternoon as well, both options are available. In the afternoon session, we will start dogs on antlers and progress them as fit. If a dog gets far enough along to work a course, we will do that too! The goal is to leave armed with the tools and skills to practice at home with your dog.
Hopefully, you then come back and practice and trial with us!

You MUST PRE-REGISTER for this event because I need a head count to plan for time, staff, and curriculum. You can buy both the morning and afternoon sessions beforehand however, there won't be any refunds if you don't want to participate in the afternoon after doing the morning session. The working afternoon spots are only for those who attend the morning session.
On-site payments accepted for the afternoon session are Cash, Check, Venmo, and Cash.

Once I have received your pre-registration, you will be sent a list of what to bring and expect along with any other details that may be needed.

PRIVATES!

If you would like a private or semi-private lesson to learn the game without spending the entire day, those lessons will be available on Saturday, October 12, and Saturday, October 26. Email me for more information or to set up a time. Groups of friends are welcome and encouraged!

Experienced teams are welcome to set up times to come and work the course. I am a certified UKC Shed Hunt Judge and can set up mock runs to help prepare for your upcoming events. Terrain is a mix of woods and grass, there is NO FENCE.

It's Time to hunt some Bones!! Errr.... I mean Antlers!!

Come Join our Dia de Los Mu***os Bone Hunt November 1st - 3rd!

Once again, Jersey Shore Sport Dogs is hosting a three-day Shed Hunt Event featuring Champion, Working, and Youth divisions trials each day! We are again proudly hosted by the Jersey Shore Girl Scouts on their beautiful campgrounds and Registration is now open!
