BSN FOOTBALL: TITUSVILLE DEFEATS HOLY TRINITY 44-9: TANK HARVEY NAMED HALL OF CHAINS PLAYER OF THE GAME

Last week, after Titusville’s dramatic win over Oviedo, BSN awarded the Hall of Chains Player of the Game to kicker Calvin Jorgenson.

There was no doubt Jorgenson deserved it. His 42-yard walk-off field goal, after Oviedo used two timeouts trying to ice him, was one of the biggest moments of opening night.

But there was also a feeling that senior standout Tank Harvey may have been slightly overlooked after putting together the best all-around performance of the night.

Once the game winning kick was made, we concluded the broadcast by saying Jorgenson’s walk-off winner was worthy of the honor and that Harvey would have plenty more opportunities to earn the chain.

He did not have to wait long.

Seven days later, Harvey left Catherine A. Ford Field at Kelly Stadium on the campus of Holy Trinity with the BSN Hall of Chains Player of the Game proudly hanging from his uniform after helping lead the Terriers to a dominant 44-9 victory.

The connection between new quarterback Remy Vigne and Harvey has developed quickly, and it was on display from the first snap Friday night.

On the first play of the game, Vigne looked to the left sideline and threw into double coverage. Harvey climbed the ladder, secured the football near midfield and did the rest, racing down the sideline for a 75-yard touchdown reception.

Near the end of the first quarter, Harvey struck again.

Vigne found him from 32 yards out on a play that looked very similar to the touchdown Harvey scored against Oviedo last week. Harvey took a couple of steps off the line of scrimmage, settled back toward the football, secured the catch and then accelerated through the middle of the Holy Trinity defense for another touchdown.

The Terriers led 14-0, and Harvey was only getting started.

Titusville’s third touchdown came on the defensive side of the football when Dwight Jenkins recorded a sack, forced a fumble, recovered it and returned it approximately 20 yards for a touchdown.

Vigne later added a 10-yard rushing touchdown, getting help from his offensive line over the final few yards as the Terriers continued to take control.

Jenkins would eventually trigger the running clock when he scored from three yards out, extending the advantage to 37-0.

Harvey then added one more exclamation point.

From the Wildcat formation, he took the direct snap and exploded 55 yards for his third touchdown of the night, giving him five touchdowns through the first two regular-season games.

Harvey finished with over 200 total yards and, as usual, made his presence felt on the defensive side of the football as well with multiple pass breakups that nearly turned into interceptions.

Vigne accounted for three touchdowns on the night, two through the air and one on the ground, and continued to show why his arrival has given Titusville immediate stability at quarterback.

More importantly, the Terriers are now 2-0 and continue to look like one of the teams that will have a major say in how Brevard County football unfolds this season.

Harvey is quickly building a case as not only one of the best players in the county, but one of the most memorable players to wear a Titusville uniform in recent years.

And with Titusville, Merritt Island and Eau Gallie all sitting in the same district, the battles ahead should be some of the most entertaining games on the schedule.

For now, one question is becoming increasingly difficult to answer.

Who in the 321 is going to stop the Tank?

BSN 2026 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREVIEW: TITUSVILLE TERRIERS (1-0) AT HOLY TRINITY TIGERS (1-0)

Titusville and Holy Trinity both enter Friday night at 1-0, but they arrive there in very different ways.

The Terriers opened with one of the most dramatic wins in Brevard County, beating Oviedo 24-22 on Calvin Jorgenson’s 42-yard walk-off field goal with half a second remaining. Holy Trinity bounced back from a 46-27 Kickoff Classic loss to MCC by defeating Bayside 20-6 behind a defense that looks every bit like the strength of Hurlie Brown’s football team.

The teams have split four meetings since 2020, with Titusville winning the last two, including last season’s 27-22 victory.

This matchup has the feel of a game that could be decided by patience, field position, ex*****on in the trenches and which offense handles third down better.

HOLY TRINITY’S DEFENSE IS ALREADY SHOWING ITS IDENTITY

Holy Trinity entered the season replacing a great deal of offensive production, but the defense returned experience at every level. That showed immediately against Bayside.

The Tigers held the Bears to approximately 250 yards of offense and allowed just six points. More importantly, they consistently made plays behind the line of scrimmage and kept Bayside from sustaining momentum.

Holy Trinity finished with 46 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.

Those numbers tell you this is not a defense waiting for the offense to carry it. It is built to try to control games as the offense grows.

Freshman Jadiel Corbin was one of the biggest stories of Week 1, finishing with eight tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack. Sophomore Jacory Mills led the Tigers with nine tackles, while senior Ben Silsbee added five.

Senior defensive end Oliver Esmailzadeh finished with four tackles and two tackles for loss, continuing to show why he is one of Brevard County’s most disruptive defenders.

This is exactly the type of defense Titusville will have to be patient against.

TITUSVILLE’S OFFENSE CAN MAKE YOU DEFEND EVERY INCH OF THE FIELD

Titusville’s Week 1 numbers show a much more balanced offense than it had at times a year ago.

Quarterback Remy Vigne looked poised and patient as he completed 18 of 32 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown without an interception.

The Terriers also rushed for 230 yards. Junior Tamarion Walker quietly led the ground game with 113 yards on 21 carries, while Tank Harvey added 97 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 13 attempts.

Harvey was just as dangerous through the air, catching five passes for 101 yards. That gave him 198 yards from scrimmage.

When a defense has to account for Harvey outside, in the slot and in the Wildcat, it forces everyone to play disciplined football.

Holy Trinity cannot overcommit to him because Walker is capable of moving the chains inside, and Vigne has other targets available in Malik Britt, Deion Bland, Bryan Billingsley and Jason Dunlap.

Titusville’s offensive line was very impressive. The Terriers repeatedly lined up and moved the football over extended possessions.

Three-year starting center Elliott Talia remains the leader of a veteran group that includes Kavion Walker, Waylon Maye and Chris Warren, and their ability to communicate will be tested against an active Holy Trinity front. That balance may be Titusville’s biggest offensive advantage.

Holy Trinity does not necessarily need to dominate the line of scrimmage every snap. It just needs to create enough second-and-long and third-and-long situations to take Titusville away from its comfort zone.

If the Terriers are in second-and-five or second-and-four all night, it will be a long night for the Tigers.

Titusville wants to stay ahead of the chains and keep Vigne out of obvious passing situations.

TANK HARVEY REMAINS THE HEADLINER

There may not be a more dangerous all-around player on the field Friday than Harvey.

Against Oviedo, Titusville made a conscious effort to get him the football in space, and Harvey repeatedly rewarded them.

His 48-yard reception came on a short comeback route that he turned into one of the game’s biggest plays. He later scored twice out of the Wildcat.

The danger with Harvey is not simply how many touches he receives. It is what one touch can become. Holy Trinity’s defense has to tackle well in space and maintain leverage because Harvey has the ability to turn a routine gain into six points.

And that applies on defense, too. Harvey gives Titusville another playmaker in the secondary and has the ball skills to punish quarterbacks who become careless throwing in his direction.

HOLY TRINITY’S YOUNG DEFENDERS ARE MAKING NOISE EARLY

One of the most encouraging things about the Tigers’ Week 1 defensive performance was how much production came from underclassmen.

Corbin is a freshman. Mills is a sophomore. Both were among Holy Trinity’s most productive defenders against Bayside.

Mills finished with nine tackles and a pass breakup, while Corbin produced four tackles for loss and the Tigers’ only sack.

That gives Brown a defense with an unusual combination of experienced veterans and young players already capable of contributing.

Add in Esmailzadeh, Hayden Argo, Zach Curran, Omari Savage, Aaron Raines and Xavier Faison, and Holy Trinity has enough athleticism to make Titusville earn every yard.

The biggest question is whether the Tigers can hold up against long possessions.

Titusville showed last week that it is perfectly comfortable grinding out 12-, 15- and 17-play drives.

HOLY TRINITY’S OFFENSE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE FLASHY

The Tigers’ offense is still developing around young quarterback Jackson Mobley, who has been getting the starts.

Mobley is mobile, but he is better when he can set his feet and deliver the football downfield. The Tigers’ offensive line must give him time to work in the pocket.

According to what BSN could find, the Tigers did not turn the ball over against Bayside, and they allowed just one sack, according to the Bears’ defensive stats.

That is winning football for a team leaning heavily on its defense as its offense grows.

The Tigers do not need Mobley to throw for 300 yards. They need him to manage the game, protect the football and take advantage when Titusville becomes too aggressive.

Holy Trinity has more than enough offensive weapons to create explosive plays.

Aaron Raines, Hayden Argo, Nathan Reeve, Chandler Hendley, Michael Jackson and Jacory Mills all give the Tigers options.

Hendley also made an impact on special teams against Bayside, returning two kickoffs for 59 yards and two punts for 29 yards, totaling 88 return yards.

That hidden yardage could matter significantly Friday night.

TITUSVILLE’S DEFENSE JUST PASSED A MAJOR TEST

Holding Oviedo to 22 points should get everyone’s attention.

The Lions entered the season with Yale commit Sebastian Galeano at quarterback, Ohio State commit Jordan Donahoo at receiver and Colgate commit Carmari Solomon.

Titusville did not completely eliminate them. Nobody realistically expected that.

What the Terriers did was prevent Oviedo from consistently stacking explosive plays and building sustained momentum.

That was significant. Khamari “Pee Wee” Fletcher played a major role in limiting Donahoo.

Semaje Glover, DJ Jenkins, Matthew Graham, Van Russell, Nate Mosley and Davion Woodward contributed to a front that kept battling throughout the night.

Woodward recorded a sack, Mosley added half a sack, and Titusville generated multiple quarterback pressures.

Now the assignment changes.

Instead of preparing for an experienced Yale-bound quarterback, the Terriers will face a younger Holy Trinity offense still establishing its identity.

That does not mean the challenge becomes easy. It means Titusville must avoid allowing a young offense to gain confidence.

SPECIAL TEAMS COULD BE A MAJOR FACTOR

Both teams already have reasons to respect special teams.

Titusville won its opener because Calvin Jorgenson made a 42-yard field goal with half a second remaining.

He finished 3-for-3 on extra points and 1-for-3 on field goals, with the one make being the most important kick of the night.

Holy Trinity senior Roan Wright also had a strong opener.

Wright made both extra points and two of three field goals, including a long of 46 yards, accounting for eight points.

That gives both teams legitimate confidence if Friday’s game reaches the fourth quarter in field-goal range.

Hendley’s return ability adds another element for Holy Trinity.

Titusville learned the hard way last week how quickly special teams can flip momentum after allowing a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

That cannot happen again.

THE MATCHUP THAT MAY DECIDE IT

The most important battle may be Holy Trinity’s defensive front against Titusville’s offensive line.

If Titusville can consistently gain four or five yards on first down, the Terriers can use their entire offense.

That means Walker inside, Harvey everywhere, play-action for Vigne and opportunities for Britt, Bland and Billingsley.

If Holy Trinity’s front can produce negative plays the way it did against Bayside, the Tigers can force Titusville into predictable situations.

That allows Esmailzadeh, Corbin, Mills and the rest of the defense to become more aggressive.

The numbers from Week 1 make this matchup even more interesting. Titusville rushed for 230 yards. Holy Trinity produced eight tackles for loss.

Something has to give.

THREE KEYS FOR TITUSVILLE

The Terriers need to stay committed to the ground game. Walker, Harvey and the offensive line proved last week that they can control possessions and keep Vigne in manageable situations.

Titusville also has to avoid special-teams mistakes. Jorgenson gives the Terriers a weapon, but coverage must be better after what happened against Oviedo.

Most importantly, the Terriers must finish again. One dramatic win proves they can do it. Doing it consistently would show that last season’s fourth-quarter lessons truly became part of the program.

BONUS KEY FOR TITUSVILLE: CLEAN UP THE PENALTIES

Titusville also has to cut down on penalties. The Terriers were fortunate that a 15-yard penalty during the chaotic final sequence against Oviedo helped stop the clock and ultimately allowed Calvin Jorgenson to attempt the game-winning field goal. That was an extremely unusual circumstance.

Ninety-nine percent of the time, a 15-yard penalty provides no benefit to the team committing it. Against a disciplined Holy Trinity team, Titusville cannot count on being fortunate twice. The Terriers proved they can overcome mistakes in Week 1, but the next step is eliminating enough of them that they do not have to.

THREE KEYS FOR HOLY TRINITY

The Tigers must create negative plays early. Eight tackles for loss against Bayside helped them control the game, and they need similar disruption against Titusville.

Holy Trinity also has to protect the football. Zero turnovers last week allowed the defense to play from favorable situations all night.

Finally, the Tigers need to make Harvey work for everything. He may still make plays, but Holy Trinity cannot allow routine touches to become explosive gains.

THE SERIES

The teams have split their four meetings since 2020. Titusville has won the last two, including a 27-22 victory last season.

That five-point margin feels appropriate for a matchup between two teams that want to play physical football, protect the ball and lean on defense.

BSN SAYS

Titusville enters with more proven offensive firepower right now, while Holy Trinity enters with a defense that already looks capable of keeping the Tigers in every game they play.

The Terriers showed balance against Oviedo with 214 passing yards and 230 rushing yards. Harvey was electric, Walker ran effectively and Vigne protected the football.

Holy Trinity answered its Kickoff Classic loss by allowing only six points, forcing two fumbles, recovering both and producing eight tackles for loss.

That is exactly the identity Brown hoped his team would establish while the offense develops.

Friday night may come down to which strength wins out.

Can Titusville’s veteran offensive line and deep group of playmakers stay on schedule against a Holy Trinity defense that just lived in the backfield?

Can Mobley and the Tigers’ offense protect the football long enough for that defense and special teams to tilt field position?

And when the fourth quarter arrives, which team is more comfortable playing a one-possession game?

Titusville proved last week that it can finish. Holy Trinity proved its defense can control a night. Friday, one of those teams will leave 2-0.
