Amateur boxing is a sport that goes under the radar in many places. It is not feature as a school sport and many times thought of as a mindless violent sport.
Boxing is much more than glorified fist fights, it is a duel between warriors, a life size chess battle if you will, where brain is as important as brawn. The Sport teaches its students key skills later utilize in life outside the ring. Great fights in Atchison KS last night, unfortunately our guy Tyler lost a split decision to the hometown opponent, I felt he had a slow start while his opponent was the aggressor and lost the first round, second round was a much better round, in the third round the crowd went off in the last 20 seconds as they stood toe to toe banging it out, Tyler finished strong as he almost knocked off the headgear of his opponent as the last bell rang, great finish but lost by split decision, he’ll be fighting again soon.
Congratulations to the two Topeka boxers fighting out of Three Shields boxing academy, both won handily as Oscar Lopez stopped his opponent out of Junction City in the first round and Jadaricis Stewart won a unanimous decision over his Springfield MO opponent, good job Topeka!

Congratulations to 16 year old Cecil Richardson and his father for winning the youth 132lb National silver gloves title, Cecil fights out of the Alley Boxing Club in Wichita KS and defeated the New York state silver glove champ in a close decision, good job Kansas!
