A little color, a little personality, and a whole lot of fun! 📸🎨

Spent last Sunday wandering around NOTO Arts District with this awesome girl, making the area our backdrop and having some fun along the way.

Pretty sure NOTO deserves some credit for helping with the backgrounds… but she did the hard part of making them look good! 😄

Sometimes it’s nice to come back to what you know. 🏃📸

I’ve been having a blast trying some new sports lately — football, volleyball and whatever else I can get my lens on. 😂

But yesterday I got to come back to the sport I know and love to shoot: cross country.

The Shufelberger Top City Classic at Washburn Rural was also a chance to try something new within a sport I’m already comfortable with. I gave some panning shots a shot, and I’m pretty happy with how a couple of them turned out.

Trying new sports is amazing. Learning new things is even better. But there’s definitely something nice about coming back to a sport where I generally know where everyone is going. 😂

Cross country just feels like home behind the camera.

Shooting one new sport in a day wasn’t enough. 😂

Last Saturday I shot my first-ever football game at Baker University…then decided to see if I could figure out volleyball too. 🏐📸

Spoiler alert: volleyball is just as FAST. 😂

Just like football, I quickly discovered that knowing what’s about to happen is a pretty useful skill. 🤷‍♂️😂

But that’s honestly one of the things I enjoy about this. Give me something I haven’t shot before and let me figure it out. I may not know exactly what I’m doing when I start, but I’m always having a pretty good time learning.

Here are a few from my first attempt at Baker volleyball! 🏐📸

First time shooting football and I quickly learned one very important thing…football is a lot harder to predict than cross country. 😂

With cross country, I generally have a pretty good idea where the runners are going. I can find a spot, wait for them to come through and be ready when they get there.

Football? Well…there are 22 players running around, the ball can go just about anywhere and play action plays are tricky through a lens. 😂

But honestly, I had a blast learning something new and trying to anticipate the action at the Baker University game yesterday. I only shot the first half, but I definitely came away with a new appreciation for football photographers!

Here are a few of my favorites from my first attempt at capturing the action. 🏈📸

Another installment of Photoshop Fun Friday is here! 😂📸

This edition features one of my favorite things to do in Photoshop… the ever-popular pixel stretch!

You’ve seen me play around with this effect before, but I decided to have a little more fun with some of the recent photos.

Is it necessary? Probably not.
Is it fun? Absolutely. 😂

Which one is your favorite?

Here are a few of the fun poses the girls came up with! Some were so fun that I decided they deserved backgrounds of their own. 📸😂

There’s something special about cross country meets—the early mornings, the determination, the competition, and the emotions that come with pushing yourself to the limit.

While my son no longer runs cross country, getting up early to go cheer on the runners and capture those emotions is still something I truly enjoy. There’s just something about watching athletes give everything they have out on the course that makes photographing these meets special.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to photograph the Baker University Cross Country team competing at the Bob Timmons Classic at Rim Rock!

Here are just a few of my favorite moments from the day. 📸

Family photos don’t have to be all smiles, perfectly posed, and “everybody look at the camera.” 📸

Sometimes they’re about a little personality, a little chaos, some baseball, and just having fun together. ⚾️😂

Had a blast with the Henley family at the Kansas State Capitol! From the classic family portraits to the candid moments and a little jumping around, this session had plenty of personality.

Which one is your favorite? 👇
