Sometimes we say hunting camp “isn’t like it used to be.”

Maybe WE did.

As kids, somebody else built the fire, brought everyone together, and created those memories.

Now it’s our turn.

Deer bedding changes depending on the property.

In early season, they may even bed inside standing corn where they have shade and cover.

From there, they’ll travel toward food sources like:

• Soybeans
• Oak flats
• Acorns
• Field edges

Find the bedding. Find the food. Then connect the travel route between them.

Some of my most powerful moments with God haven’t happened inside a church.

They’ve happened alone in a tree stand.

Quiet.

Praying.

Thinking.

Listening.

There are days I know I need church.

And there are days I know I need that one-on-one time with God in the woods.

The important part is staying close enough to Him to know the difference.

Your scent should be blowing AWAY from where you expect the deer to be.

The goal:

• Deer are upwind of you
• Wind carries their scent toward you
• Your scent blows away from them

That simple setup gives you a much better chance of getting a shot before the deer knows you’re there.

Sometimes God puts the right people around you before you even realize how much you need them.

After one powerful church service, familiar faces started showing up everywhere:

Clients.

Friends.

People willing to pray.

Suddenly, there was a community to lean on.

You don’t have to walk through hard seasons alone.

Don’t wait until a few days before season to tear through your hunting area.

One of the best times to scout is 1–2 weeks AFTER the season ends.

Look for:
• Travel corridors
• Scrapes
• Rubs
• Bedding areas

With less foliage, deer sign becomes much easier to see.

Scout after the season—and use what you learn next year.

Growing up, church was always part of life.

At 12 years old, one experience scared me enough to accept Jesus—and I still have the paper I signed that day.

But looking back, I realized something:

I knew ABOUT God.

I didn’t really have a RELATIONSHIP with Him.

Faith became much deeper when it stopped being something I simply grew up around and became personal.

Before choosing a stand location, ask one question:

WHERE ARE THE DEER?

Look for:
• Droppings
• Bedding areas
• Current food sources
• Fresh movement

Deer patterns change throughout the season with food, pressure, and breeding activity.

Find where they are NOW—then figure out how to hunt them.
