For years and years, HPS has been the way to go when you want tried and true. However, LED tech has come along way, allowing us to nearly double our DLI while using significantly less energy. Can’t wait to get a batch out of this room.

Meet Carter, a hardworking cultivator who’s been in the game since long before Alterra existed.
Kevin - What do you like about working with plants?
Carter - I’ve always been interested for watching things grow. Trying to cultivate the best cannabis I can is like a fun game. In fact, I was even arrested for the love of my craft when I was eighteen. If you were in Macomb Illinois back in January 2016, you would’ve see me on channel 7 news. Shoutout to detective May and Macomb County PD! It’s cool to see that the thing that put me behind bars is now paying my bills and changing peoples lives.
Kevin - Favorite strain?
Carter - Garlicane for sure!
Kevin - Sative or Indica?
Carter - Indica.
Kevin - Favorite product?
Carter - Hash.
Kevin - What drives you?
Carter - The idea that the work I do can help improve the quality of somebody’s life is really cool. Im grateful to have an opportunity to have a hand in that. I also like trying to figure out a way to improve something every day. It keeps me from getting bored.
Kevin - Favorite things to do outside of work?
Carter - Skate, golf, and grow w**d.
Kevin - HPS or LED?
Carter - LED all the way!
Kevin - Any advice to anybody looking to get involved in the industry?
Carter - Stay humble and be willing to learn new things. There’s a thousand ways to skin a cat, so don’t be narrow minded.

A beautiful new crop putting our greenhouse back to work. After a summer of hard work making repairs and mods, the greenhouse is back on line just in time for the cooler weather here in Oklahoma. Indoor production is amazing, but there is something special about the sun. We are excited about the improvements we’ve made this season and can’t wait to give this crop some serious love the next 10 weeks!

We’re grateful to be alive in a time where we can cultivate such an impactful crop without fear of persecution or prosecution. Not only that, but the the level of tech we have available to us today is completely unprecedented. From the ability to control every aspect of a a room’s climate to the options we have in precision automation when it comes to things like irrigation. We have options available to us now that our ancestors probably didn’t even dream of. Let us know below if there’s anything you have questions about or would like to see more of.
