TSRS KartMoto weekend wrapup
Round 4 of TSRS is done and dusted. What a roller coaster of a weekend it was too. But, it's exactly what you have to expect at these races.
Friday practice went as hoped... just kept finding speed and looking for the next .10th. Ended practice on a significantly good note, fastest we've ever been here.. (which is once)
Saturday warm up the trend just continued and things really looked positive. Hit the marks and put up 10th fastest so we knew we were in the mix for a good qualifying.
Qualified 16th/30 after getting into some unexpected traffic, but seems everyone had issues with the usual suspects landing in unusual places.
So starting midpack.. we can make that work??.. Tuck in and move forward right?... Nope... Heat 1, got airborne from a massive hit in turn 1.. (because you always win a race on the first turn right?). Dropped 3/4 spots, got pinched with nowhere to go. Last turn before completing lap one, 4 karts up, we decide to play bumper karts.. they go airborne....by the time they land, it's 6 karts deep.... then 8/10 karts are out before its said and done.. Heat 1... didn't even finish lap 1... welcome to TSRS.
Heat 2, same thing... massive hit from behind in turn 1.. I'm knocked out of my seat again.... luckily I was able to use someone else as a guardrail and stay in it. Finished heat 2 after multiple hits, rubs and just flat out disrespectful racing.
Heat 3, again ( see the trend) turn 1 .. slammed hard from behind, again have to use someone else as a guardrail. Basically same as heat 2... 2 times knocked off track... one of which sent me to about 80% of ending in a DNF.
So after all its said and done, that put us starting in 24th for the final. What started as top 12 weekend has now turned into a "we don't know if we will even survive". Head down, no regrets, move forward! At least now we are starting behind the drivers who kept shunting me in turn 1.. Make quick work and start making progress, made it all the way up to 13th but now we're with the same drivers who refuse to race clean... the opportunity was available to work together and push to p10... but one driver continued to insist on battling for 15th spot. After it was all said and done, it came down to drag race to finish 15th.
So it started great, hit massive lows, and ended on a mediocre... Super frustrating to know you have the pace to really put together something special, only to have it ripped away due to the disregard of others. We walked away disapointed with the final results but a positive outlook because now we know we can be fast.
I can't thank the team enough for all the support and insight. EVERY SINGLE PERSON under Reed MotorSports tent is what makes this possible. Everyone pooling resources and insight for the greater good. (This is only our 2nd race ever in this chassis and to be this fast already is a testimate to the level of support we get under this tent)
