In 1970, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi developed the Sahaja Yoga Meditation technique with the belief that unlocking one's Inner Energy and achieving Self Realization, should be attainable for all seeking it. Since then, she has traveled the world educating people and speaking about world peace. Shri Mataji has been awarded the United Nations Peace Medal, among others, for her achievements and teachings. She has also established a hospital, research facilities and an orphanage in her native India. Today, millions of people, adults and children, enjoy the benefits of Sahaja Meditation in over 100 countries all around the world.

Sahaja Yoga meditation, a unique method of meditation that marks a breakthrough in the evolution of human awareness, was developed by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. True meditation is when we feel the joy of the Spirit as we are in the state of thoughtless awareness - we are very much aware of our surroundings and our presence, yet we are thoughtless. During meditation, we harmonize with the Cosmic Energy. It is a way of life that inspires us to evolve into higher human beings.

[03/21/19]   Every year we have birthdays of various people and every year we make a vow that this year I will not do this or I will not do that. This is a very good way of seeing how far we have come in life. Many people who really have achieved a very great height in their spiritual life did not need a birthday, but every day they felt it is a birthday to start, to go ahead, to understand, to learn. Every day is a new year for them. In our own life we see that our surroundings change very slowly. Sometimes it is shocking. Sometimes you are surprised how the surroundings are not changing. But in a subtle way, there is a tremendous change that is happening within us and without. The whole atmosphere today is governed by human beings. I don't know how far Paramachaitanya works it out, but it is for us to open ourselves to new dimensions in our lives... Perhaps, every time, every day you live in the present and you grow, so you forget when and where this growth has taken place. (21 1994)

[12/10/18]   KUNDALINI AND SAHAJA YOGA.......

This All-pervading Divine Power is reflected within us as a sleeping coiled energy called as Kuṇḍalinī in our sacrum which is a triangular bone at the base of spinal cord. Perhaps the Greeks knew the sacredness of this power and that may be the reason they called it a sacrum bone. The word Kuṇḍalinī comes from ‘kuṇḍal’ meaning coils. When Kuṇḍalinī is awakened, it passes through six higher centers and pierces through the fontanel bone area and connects our central nervous system to this All-pervading power giving us a new dimension of Self-realization.

This is the first time we feel the Divine Power (Brahmachaitanya) on our finger tips as vibrations [spanda]. That means we can feel this silent power on our central nervous system. The unique discovery of modern times [Kali Yuga] is that the awakening of Kuṇḍalinī can be done en masse through ‘Sahaja Yoga’. The word ‘Sahaja’ [Saha+Ja] means born with you [in-born]. Whatever is in-born or innate manifests without any effort. Hence ‘Sahaja Yoga’ is the name given to this system, which is effortless, easy and spontaneous. It is natural – you may call it life’s source, vitality or Divine – to be spontaneous [Sahaja].

Yogi Mahajan met the President of India on 26 April 2018 at Rashtrapati Bhavan and presented him with 'Geeta Enlightened'. When he saw the photo of Shri Mataji in the book, he remarked that he had attended Her Public program many years ago. When Yogi Mahajan asked him to put out his hands to get realization, he immediately felt the cool breeze on his hands. He is a very humble man and said that Rastrapati Bhavan is the house of the people.

A central idea in spiritual evolution is the idea of being “born again”. This is not a process of self- or group-certification. It is the process of Self-realization in which we break through, surrender the lesser senses of ego and conditioning, and become resurrected, identified with the eternal awareness, the Spirit. Here we go beyond the mind and often humorously witness the play of the ego and conditionings as they battle to have their way. We are still in the world, yet in a detached, joy-filled and loving way. We easily forgive, for not to forgive causes problems. We know and enjoy our own Spirit, the same Spirit in all, and witness the play of the Creation. We are humble before the ultimate majesty of the Creator and also spontaneously experience true love and compassion for the human condition.

[03/27/18]   The practice of meditation is central to the practice of Sahaja Yoga. The meaning of yoga is commonly misunderstood as a system of postures, breathing and stretching exercises. But the true meaning of yoga, traced back to its origins several thousand years ago, is union. In Sahaja Yoga, this union is the profound connection of the Kundalini energy that we all have within us to the all-pervading divine energy — the force of nature that created this universe and everything and everyone in it. When this powerful union takes place, our chakras (energy centers) are nourished and energized for our personal advancement. The regular practice of meditation causes this vital flow of energy to provide a powerful boost to our physical, mental and emotional faculties.

During the practice of meditation, we can raise the Kundalini energy, whenever we wish, to the crown (Sahasrara) chakra, the final step in the journey of the union of self with the divine energy. It is at the level of this chakra that we experience Sahaja Yoga's unique state of thoughtless awareness, a powerful realm of consciousness that allows us to transcend the ordinary mental and physical planes of our existence. In this state of meditation, we have complete control of our attention. We can maintain inner silence. This pure consciousness is the truest self, not one’s body, mind, senses or thoughts. This is essentially the phenomenon we often hear referred to as experiencing the "inner self."

The flow of the Kundalini energy during the meditation, also confers upon us a soothing experience of vibrations on our palms and fingers, the real and tangible proof of its awakening. Over time, the nourishment of the chakras through various meditation and energy balancing techniques also helps us improve every aspect of character and personality and ultimately the quality of our lives.
