Summer weather is coming in hot!! Try to stay hydrated and refreshed with, of course, water- and also fruits that are refreshing and hydrating!

Try this refreshing watermelon, orange and feta salad. Watermelon is one of the most hydrating fruits and is also helps aid in muscle recovery!!

ΒΎ cup chopped watermelon

1 large orange, peel and pith removed, flesh cut into segments

Β½ cup crumbled feta cheese

ΒΌ cup fresh mint leaves

2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil

2 teaspoons lemon juice

3 tablespoons cup honey

Coarse salt and ground pepper


Arrange watermelon, orange, feta cheese and mint. Mix olive oil, lemon juice and honey in a bowl and drizzle over salad. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Sunday is here, time to start preparing for the week! Tomorrow you may be busy celebrating Memorial Day, so make sure to stay one step ahead.

Make sure you have good-for-you options ready and available. This may take some time to prepare, but you'll be glad you did!!

Keep these few things in mind:

-STAY HYDRATED - with lots of water! Not soft drinks.
-Try to keep protein at every meal (Think-grilled chicken, baked or grilled fish, turkey meat is also good and lean, Eggs are a great option as well!)
-Green leafy veggies are your FRIEND (Spinach, broccoli, kale, zucchini..)
-Try to limit carbs close to bedtime (Carbs- white bread, starchy veggies- ie- potatoes, FRENCH FRIES -nope, etc.)
-Try to get healthy fats in when you can! They keep you full longer (Nuts, olive oil on a salad, avocado...etc)

Take care of you. Fuel well.

Here's your Friday workout special!

Remember to make is challenging but doable to your fitness level/ability.

Try to do 3-4 rounds, and decrease the warm up time every round but INCREASE your intensity! (Example: if you warmed up at a 1% incline at 4 speed on the treadmill, the next round -4 minutes- would be at a 2% or 1% incline and 5.0 speed... get it?😎)

Let's TACO bout Cardio....

Unfortunately, you cannot out run (or out cardio) a bad diet. Using the 80% healthy and 20% wiggle room for treats is a good balance to keep you on track without deprivation.

For example, if you want tacos, maybe have a salad with it instead of more carbs (rice).

IT'S MAY and Summer is on it's way. Let's kick it off with a healthy, beneficial recipe you can enjoy all summer long:

BCAA Popsicles! That's Branch Chain Amino Acids, which are a GREAT recovery supplement. You can get them at your local Nutrishop!

Whip up these Raspberry Chia Seed BCAA Popsicles today to support muscle growth, muscle recovery and replenish electrolytes.


1/2 cup lite coconut milk
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
3/4 cup raspberries
2 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp sweetened shredded coconut
Sugar or honey to taste
2 Scoops BCAA's


Combine all ingredients in a large container.
Mix well and close container; refrigerate 4 hours so the chia expands.
Pour into 4 popsicle molds and freeze overnight.

IT'S MONDAY -- There is plenty of time left in your day to start the week off right.
Don't let it be another.. "I'll start tomorrow.." kind of day.

Start NOW. Oh yeah, be nice to people and set positive, attainable goals for yourself!

Every Friday, Snap Fitness would like to offer up a workout we've put together to keep you motivated!! Try this one out 😎

Any of these moves can be modified to your fitness level, for example, the medicine ball moves can be done without the medicine ball, or the pushups can be done on the knees and the jumps can just be bodyweight movements.

Or you can make them MORE challenging if you like! Whatever suits you!

Start with 2 reps of each, and continue to add 2 more reps every round.

Round 1: 2 medball choppers each side/2 medball lunges each side/2 pushups/
2 squat-curl-presses/2 frogger jumps

Round 2: 4 medball choppers each side/4 medball lunges each side/4 pushups/
4 squat-curl-presses/4 frogger jumps

Round 3: 6 reps.... You can even try to go up to all the way to 10 reps! Recovering in between if needed.


Heart rate training is popping up everywhere! You may have noticed some squares popping up on the TV's around your gym with a name and a big number and changing colors... "What is this?" and "Why do I want people seeing my name up there??"

At Snap we offer MYZONE heart rate monitors for purchase, but I'm sure you'd like more info before you make that move.

Heart rate training helps to show REAL time effort and also progress over time. Basically, it keeps you honest in your effort during your workout. Sure you might be hot and sweaty... But are you REALLY working that heart muscle??

The MYZONE will tell all. And guess what? No one is sitting there concerned about what color zone you're in. I promise. It's just there for your own competition with yourself!

Not only will you see your effort in real time, but you will also get an email after EVERY workout! It keeps you motivated along with working harder and tracks your progress πŸ˜‰

It keeps workouts interesting as well. There are ENDLESS options on the app that comes with the HR monitor. Pre-made workouts, a timer for intervals, connections with other users (if you'd like), challenges... and on and ON!!

Eating locally is a great way to celebrate. Many of our restaurants use the farm to table method- straight from our local farms to your table πŸ˜‰

Other ways you can give back is by recycling weekly, picking up trash you see when out and about and using a reusable water bottle instead of buying plastic!
