Treadmill wasn't the plan. 26 degrees and wind chill wasn't exactly inviting me outside this morning.

But the run still happened. Because showing up isn't always about perfect conditions, it's about doing it anyway.

6 miles. Done.

And that right there closed out the month at 103.9 miles. That one was inspired by a friend who pushed me to chase it and I'm grateful for that push.

Then coffee with Bethany, mapping out the week ahead. This is what accountability looks like for us. Two women who pour into people and taking time to pour into each other.

Planning. Preparing. Holding each other to it.

No excuses. No skipping. Just showing up.

Every. Single. Day.

Sometimes walking away isn’t weakness.

It’s wisdom.

You don’t leave to punish, prove a point, or teach someone a lesson.

You leave because you finally learned yours.

Self-respect gets louder than attachment when you stop negotiating with situations that require you to be smaller.

Growth looks like boundaries.

Strength looks like discernment.

Healing looks like walking forward, even when the path isn’t clear yet.

Breaking Barriers means recognizing when something no longer serves who you’re becoming and having the courage to honor that truth.

So how are those New Year's resolutions holding up?

Here's the truth: New goals don't deliver new results. New lifestyles do.

And a lifestyle is a PROCESS, not an outcome.

You don't "arrive" at fit. You don't "achieve" healthy and then coast.

You build systems. Daily habits. Non-negotiable routines that become who you are.

That's why all your energy needs to go into building better habits, not chasing better results.

* The scale will move when the habits stick.
* The strength will come when the consistency shows up.
* The body composition will shift when the protein becomes automatic and the training becomes non-negotiable.

We're almost through January. Some of you are still going strong. Some of you already fell off.

A woman came to GRACE wellness last week celebrating a 40-pound weight loss her previous doctor had been tracking on a regular scale, just looking at the number.

She was proud. The scale said she was winning.

Then I ran her InBody scan.

She's significantly under-muscled. Which means she likely lost a substantial amount of muscle during that weight loss, not just fat.

Nobody had been tracking her body composition, just the number on the scale. And that number doesn't tell you WHAT you're losing.

Her metabolism is slower. Her strength is gone. Her body composition is worse even though she weighs less.

But here's the good news: WE can fix this.

This is what happens when you only chase the scale.
