We’ve been a little MIA here at Unbridled Healing… because we got married!! God is so good. With the wedding over now, we are back in the full swing of things and seeing clients again! So let’s talk rope horses, some of my favorite athletes. There’s something about flying down the arena after a cow that brings a special kind of adrenaline rush… and the horses certainly feel it too, and love it. These horses have to sprint out of the box, ensure they don’t step on or trip over the cow, and then a head horse has to drag it. All of this is done at fast speeds while wearing a tie down. While an argument can be made for the necessity of tie downs or how they are not necessary, they affect the biomechanics and posture of the horse over time. A head horse after years of roping will have body characteristics that every time tell me exactly what their job is. Tension resides throughout the left side of the body, usually resulting in issues bending through the rib, a poor right lead at a lope, and ultimately uneven muscling throughout the body. The left side has to dig in and drag the cow while the right side braces for stability. For longevity’s sake, massage therapy is crucial for your horse. Retraining fascia lines to prevent muscular issues, working through chronic, improper muscle memory to maintain a better posture and musculoskeletal system and relieving “stove up” structures all work together to keep your athlete performing in prolonged “prime years.” Call or email to schedule: 903-354-4240, [email protected]

Another lovely before and after photo 🫶🏻 taken roughly 90 minutes apart.
I thank God for the clients and horses at this barn where these photos were taken. They truly are nothing short of incredible and awesome to work with. They have a great vet, great saddle fitter and great farrier on board as well. It’s crucial to have a good team of professionals for athletes of all species. I’m just so blessed to work with the equine species ❤️. Click the link below to learn about equine massage therapy!

Does your horse struggle on one lead versus the other? Do they seem short strided, have a hard landing, choppy gait, or lack suppleness under saddle? Did you know that the majority of horses are front right leg dominant by nature, just like humans are right handed?
As a result the back right leg is typically the weakest in the body for horses. Horses will typically put that foot forward when standing still. The pelvis will start to slightly rotate due to weak muscles in that back leg. This shoves pressure to the front left, causing tightness and a mirage of other issues in the front end. The front right becomes a stabilizer for balance, and is pulled further underneath the body, resulting in bigger chest muscling on the right side. You may see the back right look stiff, and feel like something is just off. If you watch the point of hips from the horse walking away from you, you’ll notice the left side breaks above the horizontal plane, but the right typically doesn’t. These horses need massage therapy to loosen up everything that’s pulling on the pelvis, and to retrain the fascia lines in the body. Muscle memory is very real, and it can take time to reset everything.
Notice the chest in this horse below. The horse’s right side (seen as the left in the picture) chest is larger than the left. He is also standing with the back right foot forward. These are classic signs of front right leg dominance with resulting pelvic rotation and compensation patterns. Know that these things happen by nature, although adding a right handed rider and riding the horse in circle patterns can contribute. Releasing all the tension throughout this body semi frequently in the beginning, having a chiropractic evaluation, and then working the horse in straight patterns for a while can all help to get him back on track.
If you feel like something is slightly off but can’t figure out what, give me a call at 903-354-4240. I’d love to evaluate your horse and get a game plan together that suits you, your horse, and your goals!

WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES.
Hey guys! I wanted to share this amazing Red Light Therapy (RLT) journey that one of my clients is on. This is her horse’s wound. He obtained it selflessly doing search and rescue after the Central Texas flood. I wanted to share these photos to show you how POWERFUL RLT is. The very first picture is before any RLT session. The second picture is after a 30 min RLT session. The third photo is the second day (12 hours later) before the second RLT session, and the fourth photo is after a 15 min session. Notice the color difference in the tissue.. how angry it looks in the first picture, versus how healthy it looks in the second picture.
The proof is in the pictures! RLT and faster wound healing time is scientifically proven, and here it is visibly.
Got a need for RLT? (That’s a trick question, everyone has a need!) Ask me about my rental program!
