A Message From Coach Smith:
As we reach the halfway point of our fall season, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has helped make this season possible.
First and foremost, thank you to our players and parents for your commitment and support. I also want to give a special thank-you to our boosters for the financial support that allows us to have a fall season and provide these opportunities for our players.
I am extremely grateful to our coaches who volunteer their time during the fall. Your commitment to our players and our program does not go unnoticed. Giving your time, knowledge, and energy to help these young men get better is a big part of what makes our program special.
Obviously, the fall season does not mean anything in the record book when it comes to WPIAL or PIAA competition. But that doesn't mean these games don't matter. Yes, we want to win every game we play, but the biggest purpose of the fall is to get better, develop our players, and introduce our younger players to something beyond age-level baseball.
At times, that can be overwhelming for our younger players. They are being challenged and pushed outside of their comfort zones, but that is where growth happens. They are learning, gaining experience, and becoming better baseball players because of these opportunities.
One of the most rewarding things to see is our older players teaching and helping our younger players at practice. That is what being part of a team and a program is all about. Our older players have an opportunity to lead, and our younger players have an opportunity to learn from those who have been in their shoes.
It is also great to see so many players coming to practice eager to get better when they are not even required to be there. That says a lot about the character of our players and their desire to improve. Even more encouraging is that we still have proven varsity players participating in a fall sport, and they will be back with us in the spring.
Everything we are doing this fall is building toward the future. The experience our younger players are gaining, the leadership our older players are providing, and the work everyone is putting in will allow us to hit the ground running when we get back on the field in the spring.
Thank you again to our players, parents, boosters, and coaches for your continued support and commitment. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but it is exciting to see where this program is headed.
