A club for, and made up of rock climbers at East Carolina University. Let us know what you want to to do this year. What skills do you want to learn?

The club is open to anyone who climbs at the ECU Adventure Program Center rock wall, and is Belay Certified through the ECU Adventure Program Center. Officers:

Weekly Practices:

Beginner Practice
Wednesdays
8:00 - 10:00 p.m. Coach Katie Charron

Intermediate Practices
Tuesdays
8:00 - 10:00 p.m. Coach Zack Drietzler

Advanced Practice
Mondays
8:00 - 10:00 p.m. Coach Eric Evanger

Competitions:
As a group, the club will travel to a few competitions a year. The yearly budget will pay for gas and competition fees, with fundraising to pay for any additional charges outside the provided money. Goals of Competing:
o To have each member perform to the best of their ability
o To have fun
o To promote the ECU Rock Climbing Club
o To promote the ECU Adventure Program.

WELCOME BACK PIRATES !!

We hope everyone had a wonderful, restful break and holiday season! (and maybe a few climbing sessions)
Super excited to start the New Year off stronger than ever but first! a few announcements:

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING CLUB THIS SEMESTER -> always happy to have new faces joining us!! please make sure to complete ALL REQUIRED FORMS ON HEALTHY ROSTER, if you need more information on this step, please let us know and we can give clarification.
AFTER completing the healthy roster documents, request to join Club Rock Climbing on IM LEAGUES. both HEALTHY ROSTER and IM LEAGUES are apps you can download to your phone!
PLEASE GET THIS DONE ASAP, we will not be able to accept new members past the end of the second week of classes (firm deadline TBD)

FOR BOTH NEW AND RETURNING CLUB MEMBERS -> dues!! $50 for the semester needs to be paid within the first two weeks of classes! This covers any comps/possible trips we may go on throughout the semester. This will be brought up at practices.

WHEN IS PRACTICE -> we will resume practice on Jan. 20, 2026. There is no advanced practice Monday due to the holiday and having classes off (yay) practice will continue as normal through the rest of the semester (Mon. 8-10 Advanced, Tues. 8-10 Intermediate, Wed. 8-10 Beginner)

FLATLANDERS FLING -> Our annual top top competition is on February 21st, 2026!! Sign ups are OPEN, please sign up at crwregistration.ecu.edu under the Adventure Leadership Program!! We hope to see you there!!

*PLEASE MAKE SURE TO RSVP BY TONIGHT, DECEMBER 4TH* if you do not RSVP you will not be able to participate in certain activities!!

We will be having catering from chick-fil-a, a saran wrap gift ball, games, and some announcements for next year!!

We will also be participating in the Toys for Tots donation this year! If possible, please bring one NEW, UNOPENED toy as a donation!

1907 CLIMBING CHALLENGE

Hello climbers!!! Our annual 1907 climbing challenge starts today!!
The 1907 challenge highlights the founding of East Carolina University!! We challenge YOU (or your team) to climb the wall 76 TIMES, which amounts to 1,907 FEET ASCENDED!!
Get a team, grab a scorecard, and get ready for some awesome climbing (and some pretty sick prizes)
•
RULES:
* The goal is to climb 1907 feet at the ESRC Climbing Wall which is 25 feet tall. The wall must be climbed 76 times total PER TEAM. You must reach the top of the wall for each climb to count.
* Climbs must be completed between NOVEMBER 10th and NOVEMBER 24th to count.
* Each climb should be marked with a sticker, that will be handed out by the Adventure Leadership Staff upon completion of a climb.
* This challenge can be done in teams of FOUR OR LESS. Each team can have a maximum of ONE CLUB ROCK CLIMBING MEMBER. Everyone on the team must climb at least ONCE to be eligible for the rewards.
*The team that completes the challenge first will receive an additional prize from the Adventure Leadership Program.
*Climbing up the wall counts as one climb. Getting lowered does not count towards total climbs. Climbs must be registered during normal wall hours.
*There is no maximum limit on how many times you can climb in one session.
* If the climber falls, the climb DOES NOT COUNT. Boulder problems DO NOT COUNT. To complete the route, you must have a controlled finish at the top of the wall.
* A climb may be done more than once.
* When climbing multiple routes in a row on one rope, a climber should climb no more than 5 attempts in a row if there is someone else waiting to use that rope.
* You may make your own climb (rainbow, not following specific colored tape)
