Why do I--as a writer, educator, coach, parent, etc.--also do improv comedy? Why have I kept at it for five years, and why will I keep going?

Thank you in Ferndale, MI, for providing opportunities to keep playing!

Do you struggle with The Big Feelings when advocating for your kid? You aren't alone. This sh*t is hard.

The last time I attempted to advocate for my son in a private school environment was doozy.

I made it through the meeting okay, then FULLY MELTED DOWN as everyone got up from the table.

I'm not talking about shiny eyes and sheep voice... this was LOUD sobbing, the kind that scares the neighbors. My spouse had to basically throw a coat over my head and steer me toward the parking lot. MESSY.

(As an extra kick to the soul-groin, the meeting was about my son's poor emotional regulation. I guess ya girl gave those suits some perspective?)

FWIW, once we finally transferred him to our local high school, I only cried at meetings from relief.

I love this warm and validating advice from Affirmations in Ferndale!

Community is hard, especially for folks who find themselves outside the social mainstream. If you are someone who struggles with loneliness and isolation, I encourage you to keep showing up.

Awkwardness is okay. Awkwardness is authentic. Your people are out there. Let your cringiness be a beacon. 😆

How am I supposed to explain what it's like to be without car metaphors?

Thirst trap for all my and girlies who sleep better in a weird floor nest than they do in expensive bed. Stay fresh, my beauties.

A Car Cabaret with bonus ND content! For adults, relationships and intimacy present particular challenges. Most of us want them anyway.

(For more content on neurodiversity and intimacy, check out Cate Osborn, a fantastic creator and fellow burned-out "gifted" kid.)

Another Car Cabaret, another ballad, only this time I'm enriching the experience with a little light commentary on and intimacy! For a richer dive into that topic, follow ! it's her wheelhouse and she's brilliant. Finally, please excuse the raw vocals and even more raw emotions... it's winter, it's cold and dry, and I'm singing in my car at the end of a long day because that's my healthiest path to self-reg.
