🌊🚨 What To Do If Someone Is Drowning 🚨🌊

Drowning can happen quickly and often silently. Knowing what to do can make all the difference.

βœ… If you see someone struggling in the water:

πŸ“ž Call 911 immediately.

πŸ›Ÿ Reach or throw, don't go. If possible, use a life ring, rope, pool noodle, or another flotation device to help the person without putting yourself in danger.

🏊 Do not enter the water unless you are trained in water rescue. Many rescuers become victims themselves when attempting a rescue.

❀️ Once the person is out of the water:
β€’ Check for responsiveness and normal breathing.
β€’ If they are not breathing normally, begin CPR immediately.
β€’ Have someone retrieve an AED if available.
β€’ Continue CPR until EMS arrives or the person begins breathing.

🌞 Water Safety Tips:
β€’ Never swim alone.
β€’ Closely supervise children around water.
β€’ Wear a life jacket when boating or participating in water activities.
β€’ Learn CPRβ€”you could save a life.

Every second counts during a drowning emergency. Being prepared can help turn a tragedy into a rescue.

❀️ Heart Attack vs. Cardiac Arrest: Do You Know the Difference? ❀️

Many people use the terms heart attack and cardiac arrest interchangeably, but they are not the same thing.

πŸ«€ Heart Attack
A heart attack occurs when blood flow to part of the heart is blocked. The person is usually conscious and breathing, and symptoms may include chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, or discomfort in the arms, back, neck, or jaw.

⚑ Cardiac Arrest
Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating effectively. The person becomes unresponsive, stops breathing normally, and requires immediate CPR and the use of an AED.

🚨 A heart attack can sometimes lead to cardiac arrest, which is why recognizing the signs and acting quickly is so important.

Learning CPR can help you respond confidently in an emergency and potentially save a life while waiting for EMS to arrive.
