Who Lives Best?

Who Lives Best? Beautiful doggies. We have brought them into our homes and loved them, making them a part of our family. Some say our canine friends eat healthier than billions of others in the world today. (It has even been observed that our trash cans eat better than most people in the world but that’s a story ...

Regularly eating foods cooked or processed at high temperatures, including roast meats, potato chips, and bakery products, causes a component of the innate immune system to become hyperactive, injuring the kidneys.

As societies have increased their consumption of processed foods in recent decades, microvascular diseases have increased, too, with chronic kidney disease affecting almost 14% of the general population. Read more from Science Advances: https://fcld.ly/okauoee

Happy Spring to all. I remember springtime in Kansas as a child. Each year we were tasked with beautifying our front yard by digging up, one by one, the plentiful dandelions. We got a penny per "w**d".
Now I realize what a great addition to our summer salads, or tea it would have been. Dandelion greens are a wonderful cleanse for the liver after a long and sedentary winter of heavy, cooked foods.
Oh well, I know now. 🤓

Perspective is everything. I choose to see 100 wishes. How about you?

“If there is to be a future, it will wear a crown of feminine design.”
Aurobindo Ghose

Aurobindo Ghose, one of the great spiritual visionaries of the twentieth century, wrote passionately about his vision of a radical transformation in humanity. He believed that the crises of his time—the rise of totalitarian movements as well as the freedom movements that ended colonialism—were the external forms of an upheaval in consciousness that would eventually give birth to a new order. When demonic forces are unleashed in the world, the forces of evolution become highly accessible, and not just in human minds and hearts. Aurobindo believed that the force of the Shakti is yearning to evolve our awareness, to help us create a world in which we live in balance with each other and the earth, and with our own sacred masculine and feminine natures. His teaching, contained in his book The Mother, articulates one of the underlying meanings of the Durga myth: to access her transformative power, we have to call it, ask for it, pray for it.

It’s as if the protective, transformative power of the divine waits, just out of reach, unable to intervene until we summon the courage or the desperation to throw ourselves at her feet, literally or metaphorically, and ask for her help. In asking for her, we bring her forth.

This is true not only in our battles against external enemies or desperate illness. Our spiritual journey and the evolution of consciousness in society as a whole are impossible without help from the subtle realms. Inner awakening is not under our control. It arises spontaneously, through grace. Moreover, we need enormous grace behind us in the struggle with our own limitations and egocentric delusions. To see through the illusions that trap us, the genetic patterning, the imbalances of intellect and emotion, the warring desires, the fears, the cultural biases, and the sheer weight of our physical senses is impossible without help of the Shakti.
Please join with me in invoking Durga (the Warrior Goddess of Protection & Inner Strength) who is so needed in our world and particularly in Ukraine and Russia right now.🙏

On this day in 1999, Forest House Yoga Studio opened, we held our first class. Over these 23 years I've enjoyed the great honor of guiding classes in yoga and meditation. We survived. The aftermath of 9/11, the economical crash of 2008, and now a pandemic. Although we no longer have a brick and mortar yoga studio, we still enjoy private and online classes, retreats, etc. We are thrivers! Thanks to all who joined us over the years. What a gift it has been!

I woke this morning from a deep sleep, grateful for it! While showering I immersed myself in the steamy, eucalyptus-infused steam and took that moment to express my gratitude for my life. On this last day of the year, I reflected on friends and family who were not so lucky these past couple of years.

Traditionally, this last week of the year I go into deep meditations. I contemplate what I wish to bring forth in the new year. What seeds do I wish to plant? What do I want to grow? The answer back was, "even more grateful". No matter what, I am infinitely grateful for my life. Thank you to the great Super Soul, the One, the Universe, including my family and friends, for my beautiful life! (However tumultuous it may be). I am in Love today. To all of you who are and have been a part of my life, I wish you Love as well. Happy New Year.

Dear Friends

Today is the first day of great autumn Goddess festival, Navaratri (Nine Nights) which is the 9 day festival in honor of Durga, It is the most auspicious time of the year to honor the divine feminine. I recommend setting aside some time every evening during the festival to honor the divine feminine in whatever form you are drawn towards, and especially the form known as Durga, the One Who Relieves all Troubles.

Durga is the warrior form of the Great Goddess, and her name has the root DU, which relates to difficulties or troubles. So Durga is the form of Goddess whom we invoke to removes difficulties. Though you can practice with any Goddess mantra or prayer that empowers your heart, the traditional mantra for this festival is Om Hreem Shreem Dum Durgayai Namaha. It means “I Bow to Goddess Durga, who grants all success, and relieves all difficulties.” The seed syllables Hreem and Shreem express the creativity and radiance of the Goddess.

During Navaratri, nine forms of Durga are invoked and worshipped.

We’ll put up a short description of one of the Nine Durgas on each day of Navaratri. That said, you can use this time to honor any form of the divine feminine you love. I find that this festival is a particularly powerful time to practice both for our own liberation, and for the relief of all forms of individual and collective suffering.

Tonight, we invoke the goddess Shailaputree, the Daughter of the Mountain. Shailaputri is the maiden Parvati (whose name also refers to her as the Mountain Maiden, daughter of Himalaya.)

Shailaputree is young, beautiful, and enthusiastically committed to her yogic practice. She is the goddess of inspired beginnings—so as we honor her, we ask for her help in committing ourselves to practice!

Invoke her at the start of your Navaratri worship for the power and inspiration to remember the Devi throughout these nine days.

With much love,
Sally 🙏

We rarely get a chance to see another country's editorial about the USA

Read this excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title 'C'ntarea Americii, meaning 'Ode ToAmerica ') in the Romanian newspaper Evenimentulzilei 'The Daily Event' or 'News of the Day'.

~An Ode to America ~

Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs.

On 9/ll, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the heart. Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the Army, or the Secret Service that they are only a bunch of losers. Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts. Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about.

Instead the Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand.

After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing. On every occasion, they started singing: 'God Bless America !'

I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people.

How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being? Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put into collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy. What on earth unites the Americans in such a way? Their land? Their history? Their economic Power? Money? I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace, I thought things over, I reached but only one conclusion... Only freedom can work such miracles.

Cornel Nistorescu

(This deserves to be passed around the Internet forever.) It took a person on the outside - looking in - to see what we take for granted !

We are raising funds for recent property damage. In a farm, in the Woods in Kansas we recently had property damage that was uninsured. The farmhouse was being used for a retreat/healing session-the owner of the home was generous enough to donate and contribute the use of the home and also in so many other ways.

Unfortunately, the damage to the home while we were there resulted in $2000 worth of repairs needed. (The front door double entry was destroyed). Any little bit helps. If you love and appreciate what the Forest House has done for you, throw a few bucks our way.

Blessings and Namaste🙏
