Sensei Chris was always a joy to train with and under. You will be sorely missed, my friend. Thank you for being there for Mim and I
OSU
It is with a very heavy heart that I make this post.
Sensei Chris Medina passed away today at the age of 60.
Sensei Medina began his martial arts training while stationed in Japan as a Marine. Over the years, he dedicated himself to his training and earned his 5th-degree black belt in Okinawan Kenpo Karate and Okinawan Kobudo.
In 2002, Sensei Chris walked into Wah Dojo and found a home and a new martial arts family. From that day forward, he continued to train and work every day to make himself better.
Sensei Chris had a passion for teaching. He loved working with students and helping them understand the importance of respect, focus, discipline, and confidenceānot only in their martial arts abilities, but in who they were as people.
In 2024, Sensei Chris suffered a major heart attack. After nearly losing his life, he fought through incredibly difficult odds and eventually made his way back into the Dojo to train again. Although he could no longer train the way he once had, his love for the Dojo and for teaching never faded. He continued to show up, share his knowledge, and inspire the students.
We will miss his energy, his presence, his knowledge, his laughter, and his sense of humor. More than anything, we will miss the person he was and the impact he had on all of us.
I will miss you, my friend.
May you rest in peace and continue your training in the Dojo of Heaven.
