To all those who have served, we thank you on this Veterans Day.
Freedom dockmasters all across our footprint are taking care of business ahead of the breezy conditions coming in tonight. π
Wow! Three generations of Freedom Boat Club team members (right to left): Capt. Pat in Member Training, her daughter Capt. Katie in Community Reinvestment, and her granddaughter Maysa, Tampa Dockmaster.
Good morning, from the Freedom dock teams! We're prepping boats for our members from the time the sun comes up. ππ
See Freedom Dockmaster Jason D for details! "It's that time of year for grouper. They are anywhere from 10 ft to 60 ft. We used one of the awesome new Freedom Sailfish vessels. Easily found a rock pile with the Simrad and dropped live pinfish and frozen sardines to the bottom."
If you use the Wavve app for navigation, jump into their end-of-season giveaway! ππ
Let's have some fun... and candy, lots of candy! πππ»
Thank you, Capt. John:
"Good luck in the storm Freedom Boat Club team!
Ian accentuates one of the key benefits of being a FBC member. Like most other major risks of owning a boat in Florida, for Club members storm damage and liabilities from severe weather are mostly the responsibility of Freedom. FBC tracks the storms, begins preparations well in advance, keeps members apprised of conditions and closings, bears the financial and physical burdens of recovering from damage to vessels, and puts members back on the water long before individual owners, all with no additional cost to safe boaters. This important feature of membership cannot be overemphasized.
Captain John
Member, FBC of Tampa Bay"
As Hurricane Ian approaches, our dock staff has begun prepping, securing, and towing boats. All reservations have been suspended from Wednesday through Friday. As for reservations Tuesday, the winds are expected to exceed our maximum safe boating velocity by around 8 am. Please plan accordingly and stay safe.

On this date, five years ago, the Freedom team was pulling any boats not already laced up at the docks in prep for Irma. If you've ever owned a boat in the path of a hurricane, you know the concern that comes with it. Lifting that load is an often overlooked benefit of being a Freedom member. π
If you haven't seen the Windy app lately, check out all the measurables they have these days. What a great resource for boating!
It's that time of year again. Freedom dockmasters brave summer storms to launch and catch members cruising local waterways. The incoming boat got a free preliminary wash down. Well done, Christina! π
Thank you, Captain Reyes! Well done, sir ππ
"My son is a cancer survivor so this tour was set up through the NPCF. Captain Reyes was so friendly and knowledgeable of the area providing us with a fun and interesting tour. We loved being out on the water. We loved see Stamkosβ house, the βSpider Man house, and going fast in the boat:). We hope to do it again someday soon. We were so grateful for this special opportunity! Thank you."
Ready or not, here we come, you delicious little mollusks ππ Freedom members, pro scalloping tips for our locations from Crystal River to Hernando Beach will be posted in the July newsletter!
Donβt forget about the full moon tides! That water disappears quick. Use a tide app on your phone. It's simple and makes a huge difference.
From the Freedom staff: Stay alert out there. You never know how much experience the captain of the oncoming/crossing vessel has. ππ
The last week of school is upon us. Keep the kids safe out there this summer break!
It's officially National Boating Safety week. Keep safety in mind out there! π
National Safe Boating Week kicks off tomorrow! Did you know that Florida has the unfortunate distinction of being the national leader in annual boating fatalities? A majority of fatalities every year are boaters that are reported swimmers who fall overboard and drown. These deaths can be easily prevented by wearing a lifejacket.

That beautiful full moon means many stranded boaters this week! It's the responsibility of the captain to ensure this doesn't happen. We recommend a free app called, believe it or not, Tide Charts! π

Ever wonder what happens when a member gets stuck on a sand bar? After the dock crew goes to pick them up and bring them back home, one of our towing captains waits for high tide later that night and springs into action! Thank you for this one, Captain Goulet.
Shane "The Glass Man" strikes again to get this Hurricane 231 back in service and teach some of the newer techs the skill.
Don't forget, when you have a boat reserved at our Crystal River- The Plantation location, you can get 15% off room rates! What a beautiful way to spend a weekend. Book early for scallop season. ππ

WEATHER ALERT: Saturday's front will produce very high winds. Please be aware that this will require our docks to restrict boating.π
This week Freedom volunteers joined the Tampa Bay Watch to help sort through copious amounts of fishing line and tackle collected from regional monotubes. Together, they compiled 27 pounds of hazards to our local sea life. Thank you, Aerial!
