I hope you all enjoyed your holiday and are easing back into a normal schedule -which actually prompted this post. I like to remind my students not to fall into the cycle of jumping into intense, new fitness classes or workouts too “undo” holiday weight gain, only to crash shortly after from burnout, aches, or injuries.
Remember, “it’s a marathon, not a race”. Take your time choosing your strategy -both short-term and long-term. Be thoughtful about your environment (classes, a coach, or on your own), do your research, and vet who you work with. Most importantly, make realistic, sustainable choices. That is all! 🐢

Your job title says leader. Your posture should too. Shout out to all the older professionals that earned the right to give back to yourself.

Should you max out if you’re not a competitive lifter?! Most of the time, when I’m asked a sports or health related question, it’s “maybe”, and then I go off on this tangent playing devils advocate, and nerd out until you regret asking. But I’d have to lean hard on yes to this question. Hypertrophy, aesthetics, and size doesn’t equal strength and power. However, a great strength and one rep max program can yield greater hypertrophic results. As a byproduct, you’ll look strong, and be strong.
