It is with great sadness that I pass along the news that long time member Martin Labagh passed away yesterday. Marty was a big part of our basketball program here at the Olympic Club. A long time participant in many of our leagues here, his last few years in the program were spent coaching our Platinum Masters National Team. He coached the Team to a NACAD National Title in 2015 and a PCAC Championship in 2016. Marty also had the honor of serving as Olympic Club President in 2014. A Club member for over 50 years, Marty leaves behind many friends, colleagues and teammates here at the Club and will be deeply missed. All of us here at Olympic Club Basketball send our thoughts and prayers to Marty’s family during this difficult time. Rest In Peace and Thank You.

Olympic Club Basketball was saddened to learn today about the passing of former Open Team Player AJ Rollins last week. AJ was a main stay in the Olympic Club Basketball program from 2004- 2008. Playing for our Open Team, AJ was a part 3 PCAC Championship Teams, and he also played in our basketball leagues, winning the “A” League MVP in 2007. Before playing for the Olympic Club, AJ was a stand-out player at St. Mary’s college where he finished his career 17th in scoring all-time and still ranks in the top ten all-time in field-goal percentage. He also helped lead the Gaels to their 3rd trip to the NCAA Tournament in 1997. AJ brought joy to the basketball court whenever he stepped on it. Sadly, AJ left us last week after a long battle with cancer, definitely gone to soon. His smile and zeal for life will be missed by everyone who knew him. All of us here at Olympic Club Basketball send our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. Rest In Peace AJ!

Sorry for the late update. Unfortunately its not a good one. OC was able to make 4 finals on Sunday, but alas the OC came up short in all four. The highlight of the day was a buzzer beating 3 pointer by Lincoln Gun to force OT in the AA semi-final in the morning. They won the game in overtime but lost in the finals later. Still a great run for Olympic Club Basketball. Lets hope its great sign of things to come next year! LET GO OC!
