I had a conversation the other day with another racer who's opinion I value about the three member tracks that we have here in AZ.
I decided to break down the three tracks, their characteristics and their values as tracks and to the racing community. Having driven all three tracks I recognize they have some very different attributes.

Lets start first with Apex. Apex is the closest to Phoenix located just west of Maricopa sandwiched between a hwy the indian reservation and divided by a wash. Apex is currently in the middle of phase one. The 2.27 mile 12 turn track is perfect for beginning drivers. Only one turn is semi tricky. Its relatively fast and the 2.27 miles go by quickly. The website leaves the impression that the facility is complete with garages and restaurant, club etc. Aside from all the rumors swirling around permits, water rights, garage leases, the track seems perfect for the members that it attracts. Wealthy, weekend gunners, that enjoy personal touches, readily available instruction, well managed club events where the members can relax and enjoy the escapades of the day much as if they just finished a chukker of polo. There will be no IMSA champions groomed here. Its purely an amateur skill level track. One day of running here and the track gets as stale as last weeks sushi. New luxurious garages and clubhouse facilities are promised as well as professional level racing enterprises but we will have to wait and see.

Nest up is the Podium Club at Attesa. This is the newest track in Arizona just south of the city of Casa Grande off Interstate 8, This 2.35 mile 15 turn track is considerably more challenging than the track at Apex. Faster, some blind corners, and sweepy corners make this the perfect track for club level racing. The track can be learned in a relatively short amount of time, wide enough, simple enough yet just difficult enough to remain fresh over time. This track supplies the need we have here in AZ for club racing and public events. This facility should have professional racing enterprises on site. Its very new, large paddock and the rest of the facilities are yet to be built.

Finally we come to Inde Motorsports Ranch, the only completely established member track in the state. Located just outside of Wilcox AZ in a park like setting. Tree lined driveway, Garages, skidpad, Casitas and Member houses. This 2.75 mile 21 turn road course with dynamic elevation changes, off camber turns, the main straight is long enough to be an FAA approved runway. Clubhouse, commercial gourmet kitchen and chef, and member shower. The complexity of this fast track far exceeds the other two. Members can develop their skill level literally as high as they want to. Inde is as difficult or as easy as you want depending on how they configure it. This is no place for sub level weekend wanna be's. It is a highly technical racing facility. Here you can truly hone your race craft, racing is fast, with limited passing opportunities unless you are a truly a student of racing.

The difference in cost of membership between the three tracks is nominal. Joining is truly only about the skill level in which you want to achieve.
