USA Powerlifting - The Choice for Drug-Free Strength Sport in Virginia
Operating as usual

The lighting was rigged yesterday. The stage and smaller wall go up today. The big wall starts tomorrow. I'm going up to help setup today and the rest of the week. I will share photos when significant milestones are met. Couldn't sleep last night due to the level of excitement.

Carlos Sayes showing the world what he’s trained for. Josh Drylie providing the photography.
Six days until the Wrecker. Graphics, videos and animations have all been built and loaded. Hardware is on site. Officials have all been briefed. Jury is staffed. This meet is going to break through all ceilings. You have no idea what is coming.

Patrick Kavanaugh lifting at Virginia States.
If anyone has a burning need to experience the Wrecker, I have openings. Contact me at [email protected] if you want a last minute spot in this experience.

Nicholas Fortese showing the world his poker face.
Attention all Winter Wrecker competitors. An email was sent a few days ago asking for shout out and interesting fact quotes from each of you. Out of 224 lifters, 6 have responded. Lifters with shout outs will NOT get Rick Rolled by the DJ during each of their attempts. Do I have your attention now?

Shayte Hernandez on the platform.
I’m having a Thanksgiving flash sale for a couple of meets. The Mega Novice Open (VA-2024-06) occurs on April 13th and 14th in Manassas. The Iron Built Open (VA-2024-15) occurs on Feb 17th in Ashland. Both these meets are on sale at 50% off until after dinner. Grab a spot if you want it. The sale ends when I wake up from a nap after dinner.
Novice registration is here: https://liftingcast.com/meets/m7k4k0mpsaji/registration
Iron Built registration is here: https://liftingcast.com/meets/muy06fhy71fs/registration
Josh Drylie providing the visuals.

Meet Even Ross. Remember this name because if he keeps up his training regiment and stays healthy, he will be a top lifter in this sport in no time. Wickedly strong. A few more years of competitions and this young man will be absolutely unstoppable.

Here is a picture of the 2022 Virginia Pro venue setup and it was an amazing meet. However, the TSG Events team and I are now looking at that setup and just shaking our heads. We’ve come a long, long way since then.
The Winter Wrecker (VA-2023-17) will obliterate everything done previously. It occurs on Dec 2-3.
I’ve made these type of statements before, but when I look at the Wrecker designs, you have no idea what is coming. I will share pics during the setup next week. In the meantime, here are the livestream links:

Elisabeth Cullen enjoying her time on the platfrom.
I just got home from the Commonwealth Cup (VA-2023-18) and I'm going to sleep for a few days. Totally exhausted but we ran nearly a perfect meet. The lifting was fantastic, the video wall was spectacular, the venue was immaculate, and the flow was speedy. This is what Virginia competitions have become - an utterly spectacular experience. Officiating may be strict but this is what happens when you run a meet every two weeks - the referees get a ton of platform experience and they don't miss infractions. So if you want a national level experience at your local gym, grab a spot in any of the 20 meets currently on liftingcast. Good luck to your training and good night...Zzzzzzzzz

Janaé Hester demonstrating perfect technique and going 9 for 9 at States. Josh Drylie providing the photography services.

The Commonwealth Cup (VA-2023-18) occurs this weekend at the Chaos Lab in Richmond. Spectators are welcome. The meet will be livestreamed on the USA Powerlifting Virginia YouTube channel.
Elaina Stimell gets the spotlight in today's post.

Area Lifters,
Here is the current 2024 schedule.
Thanks
Sabre

Area Lifters,
My term as Virginia State Chair ends at the end of this year. I have already submitted my application to continue for another term. However, this position is open to any current member of the federation. If you feel that you have the qualifications and drive to take Virginia to the next level, submit an application. The state members will vote and elect a new state chair in December.
In the meantime, there are 18 meets already sanctioned for 2024 and 6 more that are planned. 2024 will provide plenty of opportunity to get on the platform and show the world what you have.
Contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Thanks
Sabre

Morgan Edwards on his successful third attempt pull. You too can experience the Virginia competition spectacle. All it takes is a membership and willingness to try something new. You won't be disappointed.

Jean Lasanta Pena rocking his squat this past weekend.
With the level of spectacle continuing to raise at Virginia competitions, the absolute best place to observe these competitions is front row in a referee’s chair. Virginia is going to host at least 25 competitions in 2024 due to increasing lifter demand. To staff these competitions, I need to always be recruiting new referees. Being a USA Powerlifting referee is not easy but very rewarding. If you would like to consider becoming a State Referee, please contact me at [email protected].
Thanks
Sabre

Abriale Davis rocking her thrid attempt squat by goiung deep. Chaos Lab Media captuing the action. A staple that you will see in every pic are the spotters close to the lifter and the bar to keep everyone safe. Without spotters, there would be no competitions.

Are your kids complaining that the 80” tv isn’t big enough? Is your spouse telling you that the neighbors have a bigger tv? Why stop at 80” when you can grow to 800”? At the 2020 Winter Wrecker, we introduced video walls at state-level competitions and it was amazing. We used video walls during both Virginia Pros and all of the meets held at the Shop Gym Ashburn. For my competitions starting in November, I will be bringing a video wall to each of them. How did I do this?
Video walls can be crazy expensive if you don’t have the right vendor. I’ve partnered with Zigma World for all of my video wall rentals and purchases. I have been working with Max, the owner, for over 4 years spec’ing out rentals and their product and service has been exceptional. When I was looking to bring my local competitions to the next level, I reached out to ask what a purchase would cost, After hearing the price, I immediately ordered my own wall and it didn’t break the bank. If you are interested in partnering with them, their website is https://zigmaworld.us/ Ask for Max and she will demonstrate what her services can do for you or your business.
Thanks
