I am a self-leadership and relationship coach specializing in coaching individuals who are feeling stuck, misunderstood, or disconnected in their relationships—whether with themselves, a partner, family, or at work—helping them lead with clarity, confidence, and emotional strength from the inside out. If you’re ready to feel more grounded, connected, and in charge of your next chapter, let’s work together.

I have a question that’s purely for fun, although your answer might tell you a little something about yourself.

What’s something ridiculously small that can instantly improve your mood?

I’m not talking about the obvious things like a vacation, great news, or seeing someone you love.

Think smaller.

The clean kitchen before you go to bed. Your coffee being exactly right. Finding money in a coat pocket. Getting somewhere five minutes early. Hearing a song you forgot existed. Your dog doing that one ridiculous thing they always do.

I love questions like this because we spend so much time noticing what irritates us, stresses us, or isn’t going the way we want.

It’s interesting to notice what our attention finds delightful too.

And sometimes it’s hilariously specific.

So what’s yours? Mine is in the comments.

Here’s a question I’d love for you to answer without thinking about it too long:

You get one extra hour every day, and nobody is allowed to need anything from you. What are you doing with it?

I love questions like this because they sound simple, yet our answers can be surprisingly informative.

Maybe you immediately thought, “Sleep.”

Maybe you’d go hiking, read, work out, sit by yourself, call someone, create something, or stare at a wall in complete silence and thoroughly enjoy it.

The interesting part isn’t just what you chose.

It’s why that was the first place your mind went when responsibility was temporarily removed.

Sometimes what we want more of tells us something about what we value.

Sometimes it tells us what’s been getting squeezed out.

And sometimes we discover we don’t actually know what we’d do if nobody needed anything from us.

That answer is interesting too.

So, you’ve got your hour. What are you doing with it?

Okay, this one is purely for fun… although I suspect the answers will tell us more about ourselves than we think.

You wake up tomorrow and somehow the entire day is FREE.
No work.
No chores waiting for you.

Nobody needs a favor, a ride, an answer, a decision, dinner, help, or “just one quick thing.”

You don’t even have to be productive with the time.

What’s the FIRST thing you do?
Not what you think you should do with a free day.

What did your mind immediately picture?

I’ll put mine in the comments.

I have a question that sounds completely unserious…and might tell us more about each other than the serious questions do.

What’s a completely normal thing you’re weirdly particular about?

Maybe nobody loads the dishwasher correctly except you.
Your towels have a specific folding method.
Certain foods absolutely cannot touch.

Or there is ONE correct direction for the toilet paper roll, and you’re prepared to defend it in court.

The funny thing about our little preferences is that sometimes they’re just preferences.

Other times, there’s an entire invisible rule underneath them:
“That’s how it’s supposed to be done.”

So now I’m curious.

What’s yours?

And did that crooked frame bother you?

I want to know the completely unnecessary thing you have VERY strong opinions about.

Not politics. Not world problems. Not anything we need to solve before dinner.

I mean the tiny stuff.

Maybe the toilet paper absolutely has to go over the roll. Maybe pineapple on pizza is an offense you cannot overlook. Maybe you believe the top sheet on a bed serves no legitimate purpose.

What’s a hill you’ll die on that really isn’t important enough to be a hill?

I’ll answer too. Fair is fair.

What could you give a 20-minute presentation on with ZERO preparation?

Not necessarily what you do professionally.

Think about the thing where someone mentions the subject and suddenly you have opinions, stories, examples, and far more information than anyone realized you were carrying around.

Maybe it’s gardening. Dogs. Baseball. Baking bread. Muscle cars. True crime. Raising teenagers. Fishing. 1980s music.

What subject gets your completely unprepared 20-minute presentation?

It’s funny how easily we can turn a day off into a day to catch up.

There’s always something that could be cleaned, finished, organized, fixed, planned, or crossed off the list.

And none of those things are a problem.

I’m just curious what happens when we remove the requirement that a free day needs to be used well.

What would you do with today if you didn’t feel like you had to make it productive?

Maybe your answer is doing something.
Maybe it’s doing very little.

Either counts.

What would your day look like?

Have you ever made a decision you felt pretty good about…until someone else didn’t like it?

Suddenly you’re explaining more.
Reconsidering.
Wondering if you were selfish.
Checking their mood.
Thinking maybe you should change your mind.

It’s easy to call this people pleasing. I think there’s a more useful question underneath it:
What are you hoping their approval would give you?

Maybe you’re hoping their approval would mean you made the right decision.

Maybe it would let you stop feeling guilty.

Maybe it would reassure you that you’re still a good daughter, partner, parent, employee, or friend.

Maybe you could finally stop questioning yourself.

There’s nothing wrong with caring about other people’s opinions. Their perspective may even contain information worth considering.

The interesting part is noticing when their approval stops being information and becomes permission for you to be okay with yourself.

That’s a very different job to give someone.

Have you ever looked back at something and thought:
“How did I not see it?”

Maybe it was a relationship you stayed in too long. A job you wish you'd left sooner. Someone you trusted. A decision you would never make today.

From where you're standing now, the answer can seem obvious.

Except you're not standing where you were then.

You have information now that you didn't have. You've seen what happened next. You've experienced the consequences. You may understand yourself or the other person differently.

And without realizing it, you can take everything you know today and place it into the hands of the person you were back then.

Then judge that person for not knowing it.

This isn't about pretending you made perfect choices. Maybe there were things you ignored. Maybe fear influenced you. Maybe you genuinely made a poor decision.

There's still something to learn from that.

The question is simply more accurate:
What did I actually know then?

You can learn from who you were without requiring that person to have known everything you know today.

Have you ever researched something until you realized you weren’t learning anything new anymore?Maybe it was a decision....

Have you ever researched something until you realized you weren’t learning anything new anymore?

Maybe it was a decision.
A relationship.
Something someone said.
An upcoming conversation.

At first, the thinking was useful.
You were gathering information and considering what you knew.

Then something changed.

You already had the available information, yet you kept going back.

One more search.
One more opinion.
One more replay.
One more scenario.

At that point, you may no longer be looking for information.
You may be trying to reach a place where nothing is unknown.

That’s an impossible standard for most of life.

There’s a big difference between
“I need more information before I decide”
and
“I need to know how this will turn out before I decide.”

The first can often be solved.

The second asks today to provide information that may not exist until tomorrow.
