Congratulations to Allison and her quarter horse Attempting Invitation (Daisy) for winning high point for the year 2025 in Rookie Youth, Novice Youth, and Youth ages 14-18 with the WV Quarter Horse Association. Allison, Daisy, and her Dad/Coach Stuart put many hours of hard work into riding. We are so very proud of them.👏👏

Safari, Lux, and Ziggy donned their Santa hats and brushed up on their jumping and flying skills just in case one of Santa's reindeer couldn't make the trip. They are ready and willing! Brea, at 18hh, prefers to stay close to the ground and would gladly pull Santa's sleigh on the ground if needed. Merry Cristmas from the staff and horses at MMEC!

Some of you may have an "Elf on a Shelf" in your homes . In the Mountain Meadows barn we use a "Cat in the Tree" to keep an eye on the horses to let Santa know who's naughty or nice! Merry Christam from Luna!

Lil John advises you not to peak into presents before Christmas. He says that puts you on the "Naughty" list, causing your stocking to be filled with manure instead of apples, carrots, and peppermint s! Merry Christmas!!

Wishing Maddie the Happiest of Birthdays today! She has literately grown up at the barn. I remember how tiny she was when she started here. My husband called her Little Bit because she was so young and little. He still calls her that. Now she is managing the barn, working with her horse, Lil John, and working with our little riders. So, Little Bit, we wish for you a year full of fun, fellowship, and adventure!

Hey, if you’re a horse rider — or even if you just own horses — and you catch yourself looking around, comparing what you’re doing to others, take a moment to pause. Remember: you don’t have to follow what everyone else is doing to matter. You don’t need to ride or train the same way as your friends.

Do what makes you happy. Whether that means keeping your horses simply as companions, going for relaxing hacks, joining fun rides, or competing — do it because you enjoy it, not because it’s what others are doing.

There’s a tendency to think we should always be chasing goals or achievements just because others are, but that’s not true. Let’s be honest — horses don’t care about any of that. As long as their needs are met, they’re content. They don’t know (or mind) what their “job” is supposed to be.

So, if you ever find yourself comparing, or feeling like you’re falling behind, take a breath and stop measuring your success against others. This is your journey — no one else’s. Go at your own pace, however fast or slow, and never lose sight of why you started. Most importantly, make sure you’re enjoying it because lets me honest, this hobby is way to expensive not to !
