Another tournament in the books. Extremely proud of my students who competed, Antoinette and Ceilah, who brought home a silver & bronze and a silver respectively. Shout out to my Kung Fu brother Rocky who came out and put in work as well. The experience they gain from this is something that I can't teach, they have to get that themselves.Thank you to Scrima Shifu and his staff for putting on an amazing event every year and to the team of judges I was working with this year as well.
Sparring is always a great way to start a Saturday.
04_02 Hogtown USPSA match. After a rough start- range equipment failure and a reshoot which included an unplanned grounding on the first stage of the day (finished 3rd overall on the stage with the fall), I was able to recover and shoot ok untill the last two stages. At least I was able to still pull out an A-Class run on CM 99-51 and a 6th overall for the match. Still see so many opportunities to improve and gotta keep pushing.
Was a great afternoon connecting with our extended Kung Fu family. Looking forward to the next time! 💪🏽
Short clip from class talking about Dan Chi Sau. Training of contact reflexes or sticking hands (chi sau) is not just a part of Wing Chun, but something that can be found in quite a few traditional martial arts. The training of the single hand aspects precedes the more commonly seen two handed variation. Understanding how and when this type of training applies to your fight game is very important. If that is understood this can add a layer of skill that complements and enhances your striking and standing grappling abilities.
Just a reminder- No classes until 02/18!
Continue your practice and I will see you all back on 02/18!

My Sifu, still putting in the work. His guidance and teaching has been essential for me for nearly 30 years as well as so many others. 🙏🏼💪🏼
No matter, your age, lifestyle, reasoning, or mindset: you are always in charge of the path you take. Grandmaster Arnett, still hitting the bags and strengthening his Kung Fu.
Another one down. CPT, CES and PES in the last two years- Why go through and learn all this information? To become a better teacher and be able to better train my students and clients so that they can reach their goals.
Martial Arts are inherently an athletic endeavor. You don't have to be an athlete to train, but the more athletic you are, the better you will become. Learning how to help my students move better, become stronger, faster and fitter will help them attain their goals.
If you need help improving your fitness for martial arts or just in general reach out. 💪🏽
Get your learn on, you can be the person that makes a difference!

Wishing a joyous 82nd birthday to Grandmaster William Cheung!
Some light sparring from the weekend. Woking at different pressure levels for each student is imperative. Everyone needs to feel like they can take risks, and try new things to progress. Sparring is an essential part of training. Also, it is the most fun! 😄😄😄💪🏽
Martial arts/fighting are inherently athletic endeavors, so train to increase your athleticism. This is part of the reason I became a certified personal trainer, corrective exercise specialist and why I am working on finishing up my performance enhancement specialist certification. Helping people achieve their goals. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Today my kettle bells didn't win.
330 rep Kettlebell workout done after a short running drills workout.
Always pushing to be stronger, faster and better. 💪🏼
Oof.... Tired legs from trying to start a running program so today the kettle bells won... Only 2 circuits of my KB endurance workout. Gotta listen to your body, if you don't feel like you can push as hard as normal then don't.
