Scott didn’t want another surgery.

Instead, he committed to rebuilding strength, improving mobility, and learning how to support his body for the long haul.

At first, progress felt slow. But little by little, things started changing:
• Less dependence on his back brace
• More confidence moving
• Less soreness after everyday activities

Not an overnight fix—
but real, sustainable progress.

⚠️ Pain is a signal.
Damage is a condition.
They are not the same thing.

In acute injuries, pain often reflects tissue damage. You sprain an ankle. You feel it. The alarm matches the event.

But in chronic joint pain, the relationship becomes less direct.
You can have degeneration on imaging and feel nothing.
You can also have significant pain with minimal structural change.
Why?

Because pain is produced by a system — not just a structure.
💥 Biomechanics influence it.
💥 Inflammation influences it.
💥Nervous system sensitivity influences it.
💥Stress, sleep, and load tolerance influence it.
When total system load exceeds available system capacity, pain increases.
That doesn’t automatically mean something is “worse.”
It often means the system is overwhelmed.

This distinction matters.
If you chase damage every time pain rises, you live in fear of movement.

If you build capacity instead — restoring calm, improving mobility, reinforcing stability, increasing strength — the system becomes more tolerant.

⚠️ Pain is the alarm.
Capacity determines how easily it goes off.

"My entire experience at Align was positive. When I first came in with knee and back pain, everyone was so kind , helpful, and really listened to what was going on.

The exercises they taught me were very doable and it was so helpful that I could access their video library online. Their videos explain each exercise and show you how to properly complete each exercise at home.

My coach, Jamie, was very knowledgable and she and the rest of the staff were always friendly and encouraging, and you can truly tell they care about helping people feel better.

The gym was always clean and well organized.

I'm not totally pain free yet, but I've made progress and plan to keep up with the exercises.

Overall it's been a really positive experience and I'm glad I found Align!" -Sandy

10 years ago, what should’ve been a simple procedure turned into a life-changing medical crisis.

A severe infection spread into Scott’s spine, leading to multiple surgeries and years of chronic pain. Over time, the activities he loved most—hunting, fishing, golfing, even everyday movement—started slipping away. 🎣

Then years later, the pain started coming back again.

And with it came the fear of needing another surgery.

That’s when he decided something had to change.

Flare-ups feel like setbacks.
Pain spikes. 💥 Movement tightens. ⛓️ Confidence drops. ⬇
It’s easy to assume something is wrong.
Or that you’ve undone progress.

But most flare-ups aren’t damage events.
They’re sensitivity events.
When a joint system is still building capacity…
When strength isn’t fully restored…
When the nervous system is still on guard…
It doesn’t take much for the system to feel overloaded.
A longer day.
More stress.
A small increase in activity.
The threshold gets crossed.
The alarm gets louder.
That doesn’t mean you’re back at the beginning.
It means the system isn’t ready for that level of load yet.

At Align, flare-ups are information.
We use them to understand current capacity.
To adjust load.
To continue progressing—without abandoning the process.
We restore calm.
We refine mobility.
We reinforce stability.
We continue building strength.

Progress isn’t linear.
But it is directional.
A flare-up isn’t failure.
🔁 It’s feedback from a system still being rebuilt.

100% 5 STARS! If you are in pain, hopeless, have tried everything... visit ALIGN. Their staff is friendly, caring, intuitive, and very knowledgeable. I was dealing with severe SI Joint + Sciatic type pain and honestly needed support + encouragement in my healing process. Surgery was not on the table for me, so the only way through my pain was rest, rehab, and strengthening. On some of the darkest days, the Align team was there to provide support and insight to my body's needs. Matthew, Jaylee, + team have been through and seen nearly every type of "case" and are able to provide a custom action plan for you. People from all walks of life, ages, issues etc. visit Align. I can't recommend it enough!- Alex

Pain down the leg is often labeled “sciatica.”
And the piriformis muscle usually gets the blame.

Sometimes that’s part of the picture.
But rarely the whole story.
That nerve is reacting to its environment.

If hip mobility is limited…
If the glutes aren’t controlling load well…
If the pelvis lacks stability under movement…
If the nervous system has become more sensitive after repeated flare-ups…
The system becomes overloaded.

And when total load exceeds available capacity, the nerve becomes more reactive.
That’s when symptoms travel.

The piriformis may tighten.
The nerve may feel compressed.
But those are often downstream effects — not the root cause.

At Align, we zoom out.
We restore calm to reduce sensitivity.
We restore mobility where movement is restricted.
We rebuild stability so the pelvis and hips can control load.
Then we build strength so the system can tolerate real life again.
Symptom relief matters.
But long-term change comes from increasing capacity.
Because when the system can handle the load,
the symptoms have less reason to stay.

Posture is often treated like a position.
Sit up straight.
Pull your shoulders back.

But posture isn’t just a shape.
It’s an output of your system.
Your body organizes itself based on what it can support.

If mobility is limited…
You’ll compensate into different positions.
If stability is lacking…
You’ll shift into positions that feel safer.
If strength isn’t there…
You won’t be able to hold alignment for long.
And if stress is high or your nervous system is sensitive,
your body may default into more guarded, tense positions.

Nothing here is isolated.
It’s a combination of inputs.
This is why posture changes throughout the day.
It reflects how your system is handling load in real time.

You don’t fix posture by forcing it.
You improve the system that creates it.
Restore movement.
Rebuild stability.
Increase strength.
Support recovery.

As capacity improves:
Your body organizes itself better—without constant effort.
Posture isn’t something you hold.
It’s something your system produces.
