Are your reverse lunges helping or hurting your performance?🤔

Here are 3 common mistakes that you may be making:

❌Mistake 1: limited back leg depth

❌Mistake 2: Inability to extend through back hip

❌Mistake 3: Inability to keep chest tall, and keep the trunk loaded in the bottom position

Small tweaks, way better results.

Dry needling 🎯 opens a window of opportunity to strengthen this newfound range of motion. The twitches you’re seeing are the muscle releasing tension 💪 after being stimulated by the needle.

Is your training optimal?

Running poles is long distance jogging with a different name. Long slow distance work has been shown to decrease total power output and decrease throwing velocity when compared to sprint training. For pitchers, that is training the opposite of what the position demands.

The usual defense is that we run poles to clear the lactic acid built up from pitching. There are two problems with that.

First pitching does not build much lactate to begin with. A pitch lasts a second or two. That is a short high effort powered by the energy already stored in the muscle, not the longer sustained work that floods the system with lactate. There is very little there to clear.

Second, that is not how the body clears lactate anyway. Lactate is not a waste product you flush out by jogging. Your body uses it as fuel. The heart and other muscle fibers pull lactate in and burn it for energy, and the liver turns part of it back into glucose. This happens on its own during rest and blood lactate returns to baseline quickly without any long distance running.

So you are running poles to remove something that is barely there, with a method that is not what removes it, and you are paying for it with the power and velocity you are trying to build.

Seems kinda foolish doesn’t it?
