Vote Kelly Chevalier for Union Township School Board Kelly Sue Chevalier has been a member of the Union Township community for the past 12 years.
Kelly Sue Chevalier is a woman of many roles: wife, mother, graduate student, co-Vice President of the Union Center Elementary PTO, runner, and triathlete. She is currently seeking to add one more role to this already impressive list- Union Township School Board, Member-at-Large. During this time she has been very active with both her family and her community. With her husband Bob (Chevy) Chevali
er, they are busy parents to their two daughters Kyla (10) and Kendyl (9). Together as a family they are involved in their church and the AWANA program, Kyla’s travel fast-pitch softball, Kendyl’s horseback riding, and piano lessons. Kelly is also an avid runner/triathlete, participating in several races ranging from 5-milers to Ironman triathlon 70.3’s each year. From 2009 to the present, Kelly has been very involved in the Parent-Teacher Organization at Union Center Elementary School where both of her daughters attend. During this time Kelly has served as both President and Vice-President of the organization and is the committee chairperson of several committees too. Kelly has been instrumental in turning several of the PTO’s events into profitable, fund-raising experiences that all students and families enjoy. With Kelly on the board of the UCE PTO, the organization has made thousands of dollars for the school, and this money has been able to help all students at Union Center Elementary. In the past 5 years during her time on the UCE PTO, the organization has purchased a classroom set (30) iPads with the accompanying iMac and cart (used to sync all iPads together), helped established a “Field Trip” grant system to help ensure all grade levels have the opportunity to take at least one field trip during each school year, increase teacher stipends so more money is available for them to spend on their individual classrooms, as well as help provide funding for library books and playground maintenance. One of Kelly’s largest accomplishments was this past year when she organized a committee and brought the Harlem Wizard’s Basketball Team to play against the “Bearcat Ballers” (a team consisting of teachers from all four Union Township schools) to help raise money for both the UCE and JSE PTO’s. It was Kelly who initiated the two elementary schools to work jointly on the project, and find a way to get all of the Union Township schools involved so that all might profit from the event. This one night event raised over $10,000 for our schools, and it was so successful she is currently working to bring it back again for this year! As Kelly continues to work for the good of the school through the PTO, she is also seeking another way to become more involved with the day-to-day workings of the school. To do so, Kelly Chevalier is seeking election to the Union Township School Board, Member-at-large. Kelly is a strong candidate that has experience from her volunteer work with PTO and being an active “room-mom” in her children’s classrooms. She has a good relationship with the school administrators and has demonstrated she is very capable of working as part of a team. Kelly is not seeking election because she sees fault in anything the school board is doing, rather she is eager to do what she can with her talents to help make an already great school system even better! When asked why she is running for Union Township School Board, Kelly responded, “I don’t know any of the other candidates personally but I’m sure they are all great people. I do not wish to get any one person “out” rather I am focused on getting “in”. I seek election to the school board because I wish to help make Union Township Schools the best they can be for not only my two daughters but for all students! With my involvement in both my daughters’ classes and PTO, I believe that I have insight to the everyday workings of the school and I am driven to help make all Union Township Schools the best they can be!”
