The trails are waking up, the season is gaining momentum, and we’ve got plenty to look forward to. This spring brings exciting projects, opportunities to get involved, and two fun volunteer work days led by volunteer Kailyn K.

Vernon Trails Issues Statement of Gratitude and Sorrow Regarding Potential Sale of VFW Land
Viroqua, WI — Vernon Trails today shared a statement expressing both deep gratitude and sincere sorrow following the potential sale and listing of the VFW-owned land that has served as a cornerstone of the community’s outdoor recreation.

When we're not playing outside in this great winter, we're doing a lot of planning. Planning for future fun. Planning new trails. Planning great events. In the last couple of months, Vernon Trails has been doing some amazing planning for sure. Some incredible meetings have yielded some opportunities that will continue to make our area a hotbed for recreation. The signage project that was made possible with that $50,000 Grant we got from T-Mobile a bunch of months ago, is well underway. Rock Solid is working with us on this one and it is coming along beautifully. The new website is set to launch in a couple of weeks and it will be easy as can be to become more involved the way you've always wanted to be. Stay tuned.

Dairy Roubaix!!

Vernon Trails and its fun loving crew is dialing in all the details and stoked to open registration for the 2026 Dairy Roubaix event and Lodging.
The weekend is April 17–19th with the ride landing on the 18th. Registration will be opening very soon and we are really excited about this year’s event and look forward to seeing you all.

Veteran Hills Fat Bike Update-
Volunteers have made two passes so far on the fresh new blanket of fun. One more compacting pass will be made today and the trail will remain closed until it sets up. As always, we very politely ask that the unique, groomed trail that is seen twisting through the 40 acres is used by fat bikers and snowshoers only. Skis, Dogs and Boots do a lot of damage to the hard work and break the hearts of volunteers. Skiing, hiking, dog walking and disc golf can happen this time of year without interrupting the groom trail. Thank you so much for your cooperation and respect.

Veteran Hills Fat Bike/Snowshoe trail is closed currently. The warmer temps have made it soft. If we can all stay off it for a day or so, it will be preserved beautifully and firm right back up.
In the meantime, all the other places of all the other things outside are phenomenal right now.
Go outside.

VFW LAND UPDATE !!!
Hello to all Vernon Trails supporters…
Especially those who have been so dedicated to the “Save the VFW land effort“.
First, I want to thank everyone for taking the time to fill out petitions, write letters/emails and for showing up to the City Council meeting to express their love for the VFW land.
Vernon Trails, in collaboration with the City of Viroqua, have made the VFW a fair offer to purchase the land.
They are taking that offer under consideration, along with what we believe might be other offers. Difference being, our offer/proposal gives the VFW the financial support they are looking for, and keeps the property open for the public to enjoy.
The other offers would be to private entities or developers. At this point, we feel we have done all that we can.
I do ask all of you to stop by the VFW, grab some food and drink, tell them Vernon Trails sent you, and remind them again how much the land means to all of you. Perhaps these actions, will encourage the VFW to continue to work in partnership and collaboration with Vernon Trails and the City of Viroqua.

Thank you again for your support, as we continue to fight to keep this beautiful property open and accessable to the public.
