Grumpy 2 still has some boo boos left from Tulsa Raceway Park… so unfortunately, we’ll be sitting out the Funny Car Chaos Classic at the Texas Motorplex.

Not our favorite decision, but that’s racing sometimes.

We’ll be cheering from the sidelines and wishing all our fellow racers and fans a fast, fun, and SAFE race weekend! 🏁

The Funny Car Chaos opener in Tulsa wasn't very "fun" for the Grumpy 2 team last weekend!

After laying down two solid qualifying passes of 3.70 and 3.62, we locked in the #2 spot and lined up for first round against the always-consistent Van Hauen Bros Racing. From the hit, it looked like a clean, strong run—but just past the stripe, Brian heard a loud pop as he got out of the throttle.

That pop turned out to be a couple of rods that didn't want to stay in place due a failed rod bolt, and it did what rod bolts do when they decide they’re done… it took everything with it. That ended our weekend right there.

Not how we wanted it to go, but that’s racing.

We would’ve had Williams Brothers Racing in the semis, and Kirk definitely went on to make a showing—facing Keith Zimmerer Racing in the final. Zimmer got the win in a good race, 3.60 to 3.65. Those guys aren’t going to make anything easy this season, add in the Dakota Pony II (formerly Man O' War Funny Car) and the A field of Funny Car Chaos is stout this season!

A huge thank you to our entire crew and all the friends & family who showed up for us this weekend! We are so blessed and grateful to be surrounded by the best people.

As for the Grumpy 2 Mustang—we’ll be down for a little bit, but not out.
Time to regroup, rebuild, and and refocus!
