Great Dane Rescue of New England took in a beautiful and sweet girl named Sarah. Her heart is as beautiful as her looks but she has a story and needs help.

Sarah is a harlequin 4 year old female Great Dane who has been through so much at such a young age. She was leased out by a breeder who just saw her as money. She traveled the US giving birth to litter after litter ending up in California. Traveling back to Connecticut on a pig transport, she arrived covered in feces only to be washed off, bred one more time with a Shepherd and dumped on Craig's

It is with the heaviest heart, and broken heart, that I tell all of you Sarah passed gracefully today, with dignity, surrounded by her family. She was never a foster to us, she was my baby girl and family. She died of bone cancer but she fought a long and hard battle like the strong girl she is. In the end her comfort, and not my selfish need to keep holding her, had to take priority. She lived a horrible life until GDRNE rescued her. Finally she came to me forever when we discovered bone and breast cancer. My eyes are filled with tears of sadness but deep down I know she is running free and some are tears of joy knowing that. Newman and Loki her brothers are there to greet her. I won't hold her in my arms or look at that beautiful face again, but in memories, I would however change nothing. Even though it was less than a year, if felt like a lifetime and to know she was treated like the princess she is finally, I know she loved me and I loved her. She deserved so much more out of life than she got but in the end she knew what a home was. What love was. And what family was. I cannot tell you Sarah how much I loved you and please know you are my Sarah Beara forever, and ever.

Sarah is doing her best to keep on keeping on. Her arm with the tumor is growing quite quickly now. She is comfirable on pain meds but there is little more we can do. She takes both prescribed and holistic medications/supplements and fights like no Dane I have ever known. She continues to get around but sleeps much of the day now, often coming up to us for love, or us to her. We are so happy to have her here with us this Christmas...she's our miracle. With this yucky weather we are just enjoying the day together. Love you sunshine.

Sarah has been having increasing trouble walking, no more stairs other than a step or two, and some more vission issues. Her tumor is now actively growing steadily. We keep her as pain free as possible and today took her down to the beach, probably a final visit for awhile given the weather and her progression. She just loved it and the spark of life flamed as it does so sweetly in our girl Sarah. She is just a beach beauty. She wishes everyone safe and happy holidays. Thanks for caring about our prescious girl. (To donate to Sarah's treatments go to www.gdrne.org ands click Donate.)

Sarah had another doctor visit with NECOG and Dr. Cronin. Her tumor had grown 1.5 more inches around and had become longer. We are controlling her pain but she now has a significant limp. We are considering treatment options with her doctors. She also has issues with her vision which is gradually becoming worse especially in her left eye. All in all though she remains so sweet, loving and gets treated like the princess she is. I just love this girl to the moon and back and hope for as positive a future as we can provide her. Here are some photos from today and recently. If you want to contribute to her care please go to www.gdrne.org and click donate at the top of any page. ♡♡♡

Sarah went to the vet today to examine her eyes. We met some fantastic people who fell in love with her as we all have! Unfortunately it looks to be either cataracts or eye cancer...given her two cancers and how fast this came about we are deeply concerned for the worst case scenario. She is still visual, but has started using a ramp donated some time ago by a wonderful supporter, to get in and out if cars. I love this girl to the moon and back and she's some tears today even though I try not to in front of her. She didn't deserve any of this. Please pray for our girl, she is so sweet and only 4. Any donations toward her treatments would be amazing. Www.gdrne.org ands click donate at the top of the page for ways to help.

Sarah did well at the vet. We are still awaiting results but the preliminary read of x-rays was no big changes or moves to her lungs yet. Unfortunately though it looks like in the last week she has developed what appears to be glaucoma in her left eye. We will need a formal diagnosis but as you can see from photos it is pretty obvious something has changed. We will keep everyone posted. Sarah did great at the oncologist, they lived her bling today! She gained weight...like 25 pounds! She's obviously living a little too well but still looks great. They took x rays and will call with results in the next day or so. She didn't have any additional swelling where he breast cancer was removed. Her leg is a tiny bit bigger but she is progressing slowly, Thank goodness.

THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts to the anonomous donor who paid Sarah's bill and then some!!! Whoever you are you made my day...and Sarah's!!! An angel to watch over or girl...so amazing.

We will post her x-ray results...she's resting now after a long day with great doctors and staff at New England Veterinary Oncology Group.

Sarah is off to the oncologist today. X rays and check up. She is getting more lame but small changes so far. Please pray for as good results as can be expected for our sweet girl. I love her so much I can't believe what she's been through and still has a smile on her but she manages to lick our faces every day anyway! ♡♡♡♡
