AIRMAN DIES AFTER FALL DURING PREGAME DEMONSTRATION AT ALAMODOME

An Air Force service member died after a rappelling demonstration went terribly wrong before Saturday’s UTSA–Navy football game in San Antonio. The demonstration was part of UTSA’s annual game honoring members of the military and veterans.

According to Task & Purpose, 4 military members were participating in the descent from the Alamodome’s rafters. During the demonstration, 1 airman reportedly began sliding rapidly down the rope and struck the ground.

Football staff rushed to help, and medical personnel treated the airman before placing him on a stretcher. The San Antonio Fire Department transported him to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the Air Force later confirmed his death.

A spokesperson for Nellis Air Force Base said the airman was assigned to the 6th Combat Training Squadron, Detachment 2. The detachment operates at Joint Base San Antonio–Camp Bullis and trains tactical air controllers who help coordinate airstrikes from the ground.

The airman’s name had not been released at the time of the report. The Air Force said the incident remains under investigation.

Every year on September 11th, we remember the lives lost and the families whose lives changed forever.

But we also remember what rose from the dust: the American spirit.

In the midst of unimaginable horror, firefighters, police officers and ordinary people ran toward danger. Strangers helped strangers. People opened their homes, gave blood, brought food and flew American flags.

For a while, we weren't Democrats or Republicans. We were Americans.
Neighbors looked out for one another. We were kinder, more united and proud of our country and each other.

We would never wish to relive those days, but we miss who we became afterward.
The tragedy didn't create that spirit. It revealed what was already in us.
Maybe it's still there.

Maybe we shouldn't have to lose thousands of innocent lives to find it again
The towers fell, and dust covered New York City. But somehow, from that dust, America rose too. 🇺🇸

May we never forget September 11, 2001—not only what we lost, but what we found in each other afterward.

May we never forget what it felt like to truly be the United States of America. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 250 Years of Freedom. 250 Years of Sacrifice. 250 Years of Hope. 🇺🇸

Today, as America celebrates 250 years of independence, we pause to reflect on the extraordinary men and women who have defended the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. Every flag waving in the breeze, every child laughing at a parade, every family gathered around a picnic table is possible because generations of Americans answered a call greater than themselves.

At HomeFront Equestrians, we have the privilege of serving military families who know firsthand what service and sacrifice truly mean. We see their strength, their resilience, and their unwavering love for one another. It is an honor to give their children a place to laugh, learn, heal, and simply be kids through the incredible partnership between horses and humans.

As we celebrate this milestone in our nation's history, may we also renew our commitment to one another—with gratitude, compassion, and a deep appreciation for those who wear, or have worn, the uniform of our country.

Freedom is never free. It is earned and protected by brave men and women and supported by the families who stand beside them every step of the way.
