Tomorrow, the North Pittsburgh 2015’s Wildcats return to HOME ICE to close out PAHL placement games against the SHAHA Panthers!

🐾 Meet CHILLY — the unofficial official mascot of the NP 2015’s! 🐾

Full disclosure: Chilly is not real. 😂 He will NOT actually be at Baierl tomorrow. But we’re asking everyone to suspend reality for 65 minutes and pretend there’s a giant white wildcat roaming the stands, high-fiving kids and intimidating the opposition.

The boys have battled through placement games, and now they get to finish them exactly where they want to be…

BACK. AT. HOME.

🏒 GOAL BREAKDOWN! 🏒

This one starts with a great effort from #7 Milano Ragghianti to keep the play alive in the offensive zone. Milano battles to prevent the puck from getting out, maintains possession, and then turns that extra opportunity into offense. Rather than simply throwing the puck away, he gets himself into position and puts the puck on net — exactly what you want to see when traffic is around the crease.

The initial shot doesn’t end up in the net, but it creates something just as important: a rebound and a second scoring opportunity. And Max Hildebrand is right where he needs to be. Max gets to the loose puck and connects on the rebound to finish the play! 🚨

That’s a goal created by effort, puck possession, getting shots to the net, and having someone ready for the second chance. Milano deserves a ton of credit for keeping the zone and creating the opportunity, and Max does a fantastic job recognizing the play and finishing it off!

Milano ➡️ Shot on net ➡️ Rebound ➡️ MAX FINISHES! 🚨🥅

Great example of how one extra effort to keep a puck in the offensive zone can turn into a goal.

FINAL: NORTH PITTSBURGH 1 | MT. LEBANON 1

The Wildcats battled to a 1–1 tie today, putting 23 shots on goal while holding Mt. Lebanon to 14!

🥅 NP GOAL: #11 Max Hildebrand
🍎 Assist: #7 Milano Ragghianti

Huge credit to Milano on the play — great athleticism to keep the puck in the offensive zone and keep the pressure alive, ultimately setting up Hildebrand for the Wildcats’ lone goal. That’s the kind of effort that doesn’t always show up on the scoresheet beyond the assist, but it creates goals!

And a HUGE shoutout to goaltender Mike Puorro!Mike was outstanding between the pipes, allowing just ONE goal on 14 shots and giving the Wildcats every opportunity to come away with a result. Another tremendous performance in net!

The boys keep battling, keep improving, and keep putting in the work.

WARRENDALE, PA — Sources close to the North Pittsburgh 2015s have confirmed something that has left the hockey world stunned.

The boys have a locker-room hype song.

Is it Thunderstruck? ❌
Enter Sandman? ❌
Welcome to the Jungle? ❌

No.

It’s Katy Perry’s “California Gurls.” 🌴🍭☀️

And apparently…

IT ABSOLUTELY GETS THE BOYS BUZZING.

ESPN’s investigative unit has spent several minutes researching this developing situation, and what we uncovered is remarkable.

📊 BY THE NUMBERS

🎵 Released: 2010

👴 Age of song: 16 years

🏒 Approximate age of North Pittsburgh players: 11

Meaning California Gurls was dominating the radio roughly five years before these kids even existed.

📈 The song spent 6 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

🎤 It features Snoop Dogg, because apparently Katy Perry decided the song wasn’t California enough yet.

🌴 The song was partly inspired as a West Coast response to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ New York anthem Empire State of Mind.

🍭 The music video takes place in a candy-covered world called Candyfornia, featuring giant sweets, gummy bears and Snoop Dogg presiding over the whole thing.

🏆 The song became one of the biggest hits of Katy Perry’s career and helped kick off the Teenage Dream era — an album that would eventually produce five #1 singles, tying a record previously held by Michael Jackson.

And now, 16 years later, its legacy continues exactly as Katy Perry surely envisioned:

Blasting through a youth hockey locker room in Warrendale, Pennsylvania.

Sources tell ESPN that when the opening notes hit, sticks start tapping, gloves start flying and the North Pittsburgh 2015s reach a level of pregame electricity previously thought possible only through smelling salts.

One anonymous player, who definitely wasn’t interviewed, reportedly said:

“California Gurls just hits different before puck drop.”

Coaches remain confused.

Parents have stopped asking questions.

Opposing teams have been warned.

ESPN Analytics is currently investigating whether listening to California Gurls correlates with increased forechecking pressure, improved zone entries and an uncontrollable desire to sing Katy Perry while putting on shoulder pads.

🏒 ROLL THE HIGHLIGHTS! 🎥

Two great North Pittsburgh goals from Erie!

🥅 Goal #1: #11 Max Hildebrand gets the Wildcats on the board in the 2nd, finishing the play with a credited assist from #7 Milano Ragghianti, however, video shows #6 Owen Peduzzi also has an assist. Great job getting the puck on the net and a strong finish! 🔥

🥅 Goal #2: #70 Nathaniel Osofsky finds the back of the net in the 3rd, with #11 Max Hildebrand picking up the assist. Excellent teamwork and ex*****on to turn the opportunity into a goal! 💪

The scoreboard doesn’t always tell the whole story. These boys kept battling, generated 26 shots on goal, and gave us a couple of beauties worth watching again!

Random Hockey Fun Fact!!

🏒 DID YOU KNOW? PITTSBURGH HELPED INVENT THE MODERN HOCKEY LINE!

In 1925, Pittsburgh Pirates coach Odie Cleghorn revolutionized NHL hockey by becoming the first NHL coach to use three set forward lines and make line changes while play was still going on.

Before Cleghorn’s innovation, teams often left their best players on the ice for extremely long stretches and substituted players irregularly. Cleghorn instead grouped forwards into dedicated LW–C–RW lines and rotated them to keep his players fresh.

Other NHL teams quickly copied Pittsburgh’s system — helping establish the line-change system that’s still fundamental to hockey today. 🏒

So every time your coach yells “CHANGE!” from the bench…you can thank Pittsburgh hockey history.

The Wildcats battled all night and outshot Erie 26–20, continuing to create opportunities and compete until the final whistle.
