Fun Fact:
Part of the reason I teach yoga is because I have crippling lower back pain, due to Bertolloti Syndrome. In plain terms, I have an extra vertebrae at the bottom of my spine that has fused to my pelvic bone. I am in constant pain and certain activities can send me into spasms that last days. Most of the asanas (yoga poses), with the exception of some of the twisting or extreme flexing of the lower back, are good for it. They help me strengthen the other muscles around this deformity and help keep me loose!
Last night came the harsh realization, tha because of this condition, shoveling snow (one of my favorite winter-outdoor activities) is no longer an option. My back has been spasming since last night and my entire leg is intermittently going numb/throbbing. Don’t worry this is normal, however since the problem exists in the right side of my back, it makes driving painful and almost impossible…let alone trying to teach a class.
Therefore, with a heavy heart, my 6:30 Yoga Class at is canceled for tonight! I will be spending the next couple of days recouping and gently stretching so I can get back to normal next week!

Not a huge IU fan, but my mom is. I grew up in a house divided. IU v Purdue is what I remember. It wouldn’t matter whether it was IU or Purdue right now. It’s just cool to watch this all unfold…
I almost let today get away from me…but I put on some yoga pants, lit a couple candles, rolled out a mat, turned on a couple songs (and left the game on the whole time ❤️🤍)…and I’m so glad I did. I didn’t want to get out of bed, but I said out loud, to Kile, “I’m so glad I just did that. I feel so much better!” Have a good weekend! Take care of yourself. 🤍✌🏻✨

Why am I like this? I literally yoga’d twice today. For ✌🏻 entire hours. Morning and evening. I took a class and I taught a class. But can I remember to take a picture…NO!
I’m going to call it a win and remind myself that it’s good that I’m present, and engaged during classes and not focused on documenting every moment of my life….but I gotta remember to take pictures before/during/and after class, at least when I teach. There were 6 people there tonight! The energy was alive! It was a great first class back for 2026! (Not to mention, I’m annoyed at all the great pictures I could be getting and using for marketing!…oh well! Maybe I’ll remember next week!) Thank you to every student who joined me this week! Way to go! You did it. I’m proud of you! If your intention for this year is to be happy and healthy, then at least one of your actions so far this year is leading you there. You took the first step. You showed up for yourself!

It’s a new year. It’s everyone’s favorite time to reset, and create new goals. Make slowing down one of your goals. Make moving, stretching and breathing deep one of your goals. Make “time for yourself” one of your goals.
You don’t have to be flexible 🙆🏼♀️💪🏼
You don’t have to know the asanas (poses 😉) 🧘🏼♀️
You don’t have to be able to stand on your head an chant in foreign language 🤸🏼♀️🙃
You just have to meet yourself, wherever you are, on the mat. 🤍✌🏻
You just have to start. 🏁😬 (and I’ll be there to help you and guide you the whole way 🙏✨)

Not only did I yoga today and forget to take a picture…but, before I taught an hour long yoga class … I also got to teach ✌🏻 dance classes. I taught dance for the first time in 8 years tonight, and it felt like no time had passed. I fell right back into it, and I, and I’m pretty sure my students, had the best time!
Please, please, please…move your body. Listen to music. Be creative. Give your mind and body and soul the things it truly needs! ✨🤍✌🏻
