Voted 1st Place BEST MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOL in the Hudson Valley 2013, 2014 & 2105 Times Herald Readers Choice Award. The Masters of the United Martial Arts Centers are on a mission to take Martial Arts training to a higher level -- a level where Martial Arts training is not only about kicking and punching, but about changing lives for the better. Our mission will be fulfilled by creating a team of Certified Instructors of the highest quality. A team that is committed to helping all members of UMAC to reach their fullest potential. A team of Instructors that understands the word, “Instructor”, is equivalent to the word “selflessness”. We believe that if every student were to share the great benefits that Martial Arts had brought to him or her, eventually, everyone in our society would live the Martial Way. And that is a way of life based on the principals of Tae Kwon Do: Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit, Perseverance, Humility, and Courtesy

Martial Arts Instructor — UMAC Warwick

United Martial Arts Centers | Warwick, NY
Part-Time | Afternoon & Evening Hours | Growth Opportunity

UMAC Warwick is looking for an energetic, confident, and experienced Martial Arts Instructor to join our team!

We’re not simply looking for someone who knows martial arts. We’re looking for someone who can command a room, get kids excited to learn, build confidence, and make every class an experience students look forward to.

Our ideal instructor is upbeat, animated, dependable, great with children, and comfortable leading groups of different ages and skill levels.

What you’ll do:

Teach fun, structured, high-energy martial arts classes
Work primarily with children and families
Help students develop confidence, discipline, respect, and martial arts skills
Maintain excellent classroom management while keeping classes exciting
Learn and deliver UMAC’s curriculum and teaching methodology
Assist with our After School program before evening classes as needed
Build relationships with students and families
Work alongside an experienced martial arts team with opportunities to grow

We’re looking for someone with martial arts experience, but your background does not necessarily need to be Taekwondo. Experience in Karate, Tang Soo Do, kickboxing, Taekwondo, or another compatible striking-based martial art may be a great fit.

Previous experience teaching or coaching children is strongly preferred.

Most importantly, we’re looking for PERSONALITY. You should be the kind of instructor who walks onto the floor and brings the energy with you.

Schedule: Primarily weekday afternoons/evenings
Location: Warwick, NY

This could be a great opportunity for an experienced instructor looking for a new martial arts home, a former instructor who misses teaching, or an advanced martial artist ready to take on a larger coaching role.

To apply: Send us a brief introduction telling us about your martial arts background, teaching/coaching experience, and why you’d like to work with kids at UMAC. Click here to fill out our career form: https://www.umacenters.com/umac-careers

🥋 THE LINEAGE WE CARRY

Every martial artist stands on the shoulders of those who came before them.

The techniques we practice. The discipline we develop. The traditions we protect. The values we teach.

None of these began with us.

My martial arts lineage begins with Grand Master Hwang Kee, founder of Moo Duk Kwan and one of the great pioneers of Korean martial arts. From Grand Master Hwang Kee, this knowledge and tradition was passed to Grand Master Tiger Kim, and from him to my instructor and teacher, Grand Master Byung Min Kim.

These men are more than names in the history of our martial art.

They are links in the chain that connects us to our past.

I believe deeply that we have a responsibility to remember them and to make sure our students understand where their martial arts journey began.

At United Martial Arts Centers, I want every student to understand that they are part of something much greater than themselves. They are not simply learning how to kick, punch, block, or defend themselves.

They are becoming part of a legacy.

A legacy that existed before them.

A legacy that exists because others cared enough to preserve it.

And a legacy that will continue only if we care enough to pass it on.

We must never forget our martial arts forefathers. We must speak their names, honor their contributions, and teach our students where the knowledge they receive came from.

Because when we forget where we came from, we lose something far more important than history.

We lose our identity.

I will always have the deepest appreciation and gratitude for Grand Master Hwang Kee, Grand Master Tiger Kim, and Grand Master Byung Min Kim.

They gave us more than techniques.

They gave us knowledge, discipline, tradition, and a path.

I am humbled and honored to have received that knowledge, and I recognize the responsibility that comes with it.

Now it is our turn to carry the torch.

Our students will become tomorrow’s instructors. Their students will become the generation after that. What we teach, preserve, and honor today will become their foundation tomorrow.

That is the meaning of lineage.

From teacher to student.
From generation to generation.
From the past, through us, and into the future.

So when our students bow, I want them to understand what that bow means.

A bow of respect for their instructor.

A bow of gratitude to those who came before us.

A bow of humility for the knowledge entrusted to us.

And a promise that we will preserve this martial art and pass it on to those who follow.

We are not the beginning of this journey.

We are the current guardians of a legacy that began long before us.

And one day, we will place that legacy into the hands of the next generation.

May they carry it with the same respect.

May they protect it with the same dedication.

And may they always remember the men who walked this path before them.

Grand Master Hwang Kee.
Grand Master Tiger Kim.
Grand Master Byung Min Kim.

I honor you.

I thank you.

And I will always be grateful for the knowledge you passed down to us.

🥋 We remember where we came from.
🥋 We honor those who came before us.
🥋 We protect what was entrusted to us.
🥋 And we pass the torch forward.

This is our lineage.
This is our responsibility.
This is our legacy.

Today, our summer camp instructors completed CPR and first aid training to ensure they’re prepared to respond confidently in an emergency. ❤️🩹

Safety is our top priority, and ongoing training helps us provide a fun, secure environment where campers can learn, explore, and make lasting memories.

A special thank you to Stacie Ellis, our Camp Coordinator at our Vernon location, for organizing and leading today’s CPR training event. Your dedication and hard work help ensure our staff is prepared and our campers are in great hands.

Thank you to all of our instructors for your commitment to keeping our campers safe this summer! ☀️🏕️

Today was a big milestone—Morgan earned her Yellow Belt! 💛🥋

Watching her grow has been about so much more than learning martial arts. Her confidence has blossomed with every class, every challenge, and every time she stepped outside her comfort zone. She’s become stronger, more determined, and believes in herself in ways that are incredible to see.

This yellow belt represents all of her hard work, perseverance, and the confidence she’s built along the way. We couldn’t be prouder of how far she’s come, and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next.

Keep shining, Morgan! This is only the beginning. 💛👏
