SENIOR SPOTLIGHT!

SENIOR HEAD CAPTAIN, Kathya Lavado 📣

I have been cheering at Washington Latin for 3 years and been a Captain since my sophomore year! My favorite thing about cheer is being able to have to 2 hours of my day full of jokes and laughter at cheer practice to take my mind off of my stress. Also getting hype with music in the weight room before each game! After high school, I am attending THE Illustrious Spelman College to major in Health Science on a Pre-med track, eventually earning my M.D. and entering the world of Pediatrics. One fun fact about me is that I also played on the Varsity Soccer Team. My favorite memory was our last away game this year. We got to the gym very early, so we spent time running around, making tiktoks, and just having fun. Then, we were so hungry that we ordered Chick-fil-a and the gym did not let us eat inside, so we all ended up eating outside on the curb, but in the end we made the best out of it and were laughing the entire time. (Especially when the other teams bus pulled up on us munching on the food!!!)

I am going to miss all my girls so much!!

SENIOR Battle Squad Captain, Janiyah Basil 📣

I am a third year veteran of the Washington Latin varsity cheerleading program. My favorite thing about cheer is stunting because it builds trust among the team. After graduation, I plan to attend Xavier University of Louisiana (Xula) to study pre med. My favorite cheer memory was battling DCI (we ate them up!). did you know I used to play piano?

SENIOR cheerleader, Aria Briggs 📣

I am a three year veteran of the varsity cheerleading squad. My favorite thing about cheer is the stomp and shake style. After graduation, I plan to attend Spelman College and study environmental engineering. My favorite memory of the season was getting compliments from the school community because of our motions, base and creativity. Did you know I sing, dance, sew and play multiple instruments.

I have been sharing at Washington Latin for the past three years. My favorite things about cheering are the pregame rituals and getting hype at games. After graduation, I plan to attend college. My favorite memory from the season is when a basketball player tripped, and me, and my teammates couldn’t stop giggling (yes he is okay!).

Fun fact: my birthday is Valentine’s Day!

I have been cheering at Washington Latin for the past three years. My favorite thing about the season was jumping and how we all would look at each other and just bust out laughing. After graduation, I plan to attend college and then law school. My favorite cheer memory is when we played Cap City because we were so hype.

Fun Fact: I use to play tennis and do gymnastics.
