Silence has a unique ability to reveal truths that noise often conceals.
When our surroundings quiet down, we start to notice things we've overlooked for a long time: our inner thoughts, hidden fears, unhealed wounds, ingrained patterns, and even the way we speak to ourselves internally.
Sometimes, we keep ourselves busy not because we are genuinely productive, but because we're trying to avoid what silence might uncover.
However, awareness is crucial.
You cannot heal what you refuse to acknowledge, nor can you transform what you never confront.
There are times when silence acts as a mirror, not to judge us, but to awaken us to deeper understanding.

THE LANGUAGE OF SILENCE
"There are times when silence acts as a mirror,
not to judge us,
but to awaken us to deeper understanding.”

In quiet seasons, we often become more aware of:
our thoughts,
our fears,
our patterns,
and the truths hidden beneath constant noise.

Sometimes silence is not emptiness.
Sometimes it is awareness.
Sometimes it is refinement.
Sometimes it is where transformation begins.

Lately, I've been contemplating silence, not the kind that stems from emptiness, but the kind that precedes understanding.
There are times when life becomes quieter than we anticipate. Prayers seem unanswered, and direction feels uncertain, leading us to question if something is amiss.
But what if silence isn't always an absence?
What if certain things can only take shape in stillness?
Perhaps not everything God does is meant to be seen right away.

As we step into a new year, I’m reminded that God doesn’t rush us He leads us.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

This year, may we walk with faith over fear,
obedience over noise,
and hope that anchors the soul.

If the last season was heavy, may this one bring healing.
If the road ahead feels unclear, may his light meet you one step at a time.

This is the heart of Kondere Soul Call:
a gentle invitation to pause, listen, and return to God.

Wishing you peace, strength, and grace in the year ahead
Happy New Year

When Home Is a Feeling, Not a Place
For years, I was convinced that "home" was something you could point to on a map. You know, a house, a country, or that street where everyone knows you prefer your tea with two spoons of honey and insists you sit in the same chair every time.
But life, with its quirky sense of humor, had other plans for my definition of home.
This Christmas, more than any other, I've been reminded that home isn't always a place you can travel to. Sometimes, it’s more like a warm, fuzzy feeling you carry around inside, like a cat in your heart that purrs contentedly.

Home Isn't Always Where You're Standing
There are times when you're surrounded by your own four walls, perfectly decorated with your favorite knick knacks, yet something still feels off, or a jigsaw puzzle missing its final piece. And then there are those magical moments when you're miles away, and suddenly, your heart is doing the happy dance.
Apparently, home doesn’t care about geography. It's rebellious like that.
Some of us have a home that’s layered like an onion, spanning continents and mixing childhood memories with grown up responsibilities. It’s like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube during the holidays when everyone thinks home should fit into a neat little box.

Home Is Where Your Soul Exhales
It's that place where you can sit in silence, no questions asked. Where laughter bubbles up like a fizzy drink, and tears don't need a hall pass.
Home might be a kitchen filled with the scent of something delicious simmering away, a living room lit softly at night, or a familiar voice on the phone that feels like a warm hug when the day’s been a bit of a grouch.
Or maybe it's just a kindly nudge from God saying, "You will be alright."
Sometimes, home is less of a place and more of a mental vacation.
Carrying Home With You
A lot of us have become experts in the fine art of adaptation, like chameleons in cozy sweaters. We've learned to create comfort no matter where life plops us down.
We found out that home could be:
A beloved tradition you cling to like a lifeboat
A recipe passed down, with each year adding a new twist
A tune that instantly calms your frazzled nerves
A quiet prayer whispered before the household chaos ensues
Home becomes a part of you, portable, resilient, and deeply personal.
And that's not a loss; honestly, it’s deep growth.

Christmas Has a Way of Revealing This
The story of Christmas itself is a reminder that home was never meant to be flawless or fancy.
Jesus was born far from the familiar, in an unexpected place that wasn’t on anyone’s travel itinerary.
If home were all about four walls, that night would have been a washout. But no, it was all about presence over place, love over location.
And maybe that's the invite Christmas extends to us, too.
If You're Feeling "In Between" This Season
If this Christmas finds you feeling as if you’re in limbo, stuck between where you are and where your heart wants to be, remember this:
You’re not lost, just in the middle of becoming something wonderful.
Home is growing within you, in your values, your faith, your kindness, and your ability to be there for others. In the way you create warmth wherever you’re planted.
And that’s the truest form of home there is.
A Gentle Reminder
This Christmas, let go of the pressure to "arrive" emotionally or physically.
Look for home in the small things:
A shared meal
A quiet prayer
A soft laugh
A stillness that feels like peace
Because when home is a feeling, not a place, no amount of distance can take it from you.
And that’s a treasure worth holding onto, this season and beyond.
Merry Christmas!

The Power of Deception: Who Told You That?

Sometimes I sit with Scripture and honestly feel like I’ve walked into a movie halfway through. Have you ever read the Bible and think, “Wait…did I miss a page?” Because some stories just start, with no context. No backstory. No explanation. Take the Garden of Eden.
We’re told it’s this mythical paradise somewhere “out there,” usually floated vaguely in the Middle East. But did you know the Ethiopian Bible places it near the Blue Nile? That’s not just poetic that’s geographic. That’s Africa.
Then there’s Mary the mother of Jesus. She just shows up. Like a main character with no origin story. In most Western Bibles, she appears out of the blue, but in Ethiopian tradition, Mary’s lineage is rich, royal, and rooted. She didn’t “pop up” she fulfilled prophecy. There’s depth, heritage, and divine intention behind her story.
Even Jesus got a makeover blue eyes, pale skin, flowing hair fit for Renaissance art but far from a Hebrew born in Bethlehem Why? Who decided the Messiah should look like a European monarch instead of a man from Nazareth of Cush*te and African lineage?
When image becomes ideology, truth gets painted over and power decides what holiness should look like. So I can’t help but ask: Why are these narratives missing or muted? Why are so many ancient truths treated as irrelevant, mythical, or even dangerous?
Deception doesn’t always come with red horns and a pitchfork.
No sometimes it wears a theological robe, speaks perfect Greek, and has a footnote. It edits. It renames. It relocates sacred things. It replaces truth with fragments and then sells the new version as “orthodox.”And here’s the wild part: over time, we don’t just accept the edits. We start defending them.
Let’s talk about the Bible. The Ethiopian canon is the oldest and most complete in the world.
But few know about it. Books like Enoch, Jubilees, Baruch, and Tobit were once cherished. Now they’re labeled “apocrypha” or “lost books.” But lost to whom? And for whose benefit? Deception isn’t just about what’s added it’s about what’s removed. It’s shaped how we view the world and each other. Colonial narratives told us who was “civilized.” Religious systems told us who could speak for God (spoiler: it wasn’t you if you were poor, female, or melanated). Today, algorithms feed us curated realities, reinforcing disconnection, division, and spiritual amnesia. But I believe truth is still calling, even when deception has the louder microphone.
It takes humility and holy curiosity to go back and ask: What was removed? What was distorted? What did my ancestors know that I’ve forgotten? Because truth heals. Truth liberates. Deception? It controls! It confines! In this hour, we’re being invited to remember. To unlearn the edits, to reclaim the original sound.
Let’s rise to the challenge of rediscovering stories that were overshadowed by time, tradition, and translation. Stories that carry keys identity, purpose, and power. In this quest, we must open our hearts and minds to diverse perspectives, learning from the rich tapestry of cultures and histories that contribute to our shared human experience. Together, we can dismantle the barriers erected by deception and ignorance, forging a path toward enlightenment and healing.
By honoring what was marginalized, we become stewards of a deeper narrative. One that doesn’t just bridge past and present but births healing for the future. So let’s listen. Question. Dig. Let’s laugh at the lies we once believed and then boldly step into the truth that sets us free (John 8:32). Because truth was never lost. It was just waiting for a generation with the courage to remember.
