VICTORY. The Referendum in support of a Tuition Freeze has passed with 85.6% of the vote.
In an unprecedented move, the students of American University have united to show that they will no longer accept the Administration's tuition hikes as inevitable or unstoppable. Instead, we challenge the University Budget Committee and the Board of Trustees to reexamine their priorities and create a budget in line with our institutional values.
The hard work is not over. The results of this referendum will be instrumental in negotiation with the University Budget Committee in the coming year, but there is still much to do as we demand a transition to a just and accessible of model higher education. We will no longer tolerate a budget that privileges profits over students, workers, and faculty.
Thank you to everyone who turned out to vote, and who is committed to the fight ahead.
Together, let's block the hike.

As Secretary, I'm not just going to be sitting at a desk and sending out e-mails. I'm going to be fighting with you and for you by giving every student a voice and demanding a tuition freeze.
