We Are Open for Training
With nearly 8,000 sqft of space dedicated only to personal training, one-on-one sessions, FIT will re-open for sessions beginning Monday.
Unique about FIT, every trainer has at least a degree or Master's Degree in Exercise Science, and more than 5 years of personal training experience.
We will be observing the recommended DC Re-opening Guidelines as well as our even more broad precautions to ensure the safety or our patrons and trainers.
We will have nearly 8,000 square feet of gym space with no more than 2 individuals per square feet of total space. Our threshold will be set well within the DC guidelines of 5 persons per 1,000sq ft.
Trainers will be wearing masks and patrons will be asked to wear masks upon exit and entry.
Sanitation stations will be set up throughout the gym.
Trainers will clean and sanitize equipment before, during, and after sessions.
Please take a moment to read the attached information regarding how the gym will reopen.
Also, for those who missed the May Zoom FITness Check-IN, there is a link to the video provided in the attachment.
Best,
Mike Everts

Adapting
03/13/2020
Dear FIT Community,
As the Mayor declares a state of emergency, schools close in the District, and experts recommend social distancing and extreme preventative measures in response to the national COVID-19 pandemic, we are responding with great care and effort at FIT.
We are fully aware of how serious the threat of the spread of this disease is. Like many others, we are mindfully washing our hands with soap and water, using Purell, mopping our floors multiple times per day, and wiping and spraying equipment excessively.
While we are currently maintaining regular operations, our team is fully prepared to swiftly adapt as needed. We will continue to promote health and wellness and help you in your pursuit of your health and wellness goals.
Growing up in a family restaurant (in Pennsylvania which has some of the strictest Board of Health regulations in the country), I am tapping into that vast experience of preparing for health inspections, to make sure to do everything we can to keep a safe and sanitary space.
I will over react rather than under react. We are spraying and wiping repeatedly in the gym regardless if a machine or tool has been used recently or not. We are focused on making sure we are cleaning everything, not just obvious surfaces. We are disinfecting handles, barbells, machine pins, light switches, buttons, ropes, dumbbells, faucet handles, foam rollers, medicine balls, external door handles or railings, and other non obvious items/surfaces.
We are increasing the number of times per day that we disinfect all surfaces and asking any trainer with symptoms to refrain from coming to work. We are requiring trainers to wash their hands vigorously after every session and anytime they are arriving or returning to the gym from somewhere else.
We are asking anyone who has attended a school, office, building, church or other business and community organizations that have closed due to a potential exposure/outbreak of this virus that you please stay home until that building is reopened or you have a cleared health record from your physician.
Remember stay safe, use common sense practices and stay informed by visiting the Center For Disease control website at www.cdc.gov .
Happy health and fitness from FIT
Sincerely,
Mike Everts,
FIT Personal Training
CDC Works 24/7 As the nation's health protection agency, CDC saves lives and protects people from health, safety, and security threats.
Friends and connections, please post and share this with your connections as well. I am currently looking to add a new trainer to our team. FIT is unique in that every trainer at FIT has a degree in Exercise Science (or exercise science field) and at least 5 years of experience. This also makes it very difficult to hire, as most trainers do not posses those credentials. We are looking to add a full time trainer who would be eager to be part of such a talented and qualified team. The top appeal for a candidate is great compensation and being in a personal training gym that has the highest of standards and quality in training. Please pass this on to any talented and well credentialed trainers you know or are aware of and ask them to take a look. FIT is the oldest and finest personal training gym in Washington DC.
Thanks,
Mike Everts,
