Join us in Jackson, Mississippi on Saturday, October 31st for the screening of “Off Our Shoulders: Health System Accountability,” our new documentary featuring local IAJE leaders and spaces in action members fighting for a healthcare system that answers to those it’s supposed to serve – not corporate suits.

After the film, we’ll come together to discuss the blueprint for making that vision a reality.
This special Altar del Día de los Mu***os with IAJE is a time to remember those who came before us. Come and share your story and honor someone you love.

We’ll have good conversations, food, music, art, cultural performances, and three contests with $500 first-place prizes!

Because people we love deserve care that keeps them with us.

📅 Saturday, October 31st at 10 AM – 6:30 PM.

Medicaid is the reason why Val’s surgery cost $50 instead of $20K. It’s also why she couldn’t see the specialist she needed.

One writer’s year of scans, waiting rooms, and learning to speak up for herself shows what our healthcare gets right, what gets badly wrong, and how communities fill that gap.

A nursing assistant who can’t afford health insurance. A son handed a $40K bill after his mother’s death. A promotora building the trust immigrant families need before they seek care.

At the screening of our new healthcare documentary in Apopka, Florida, organizers and healthcare workers shared how the system failed them, and how their communities are building something better.

25 years ago, an earthquake shook El Salvador, and a promise of protection followed. Today, more than 170K Salvadorans with TPS are still waiting to learn whether that protection will hold.

Ingrid, our Senior Digital Strategist, writes about the earthquake that shaped her childhood, the people who have built their lives in the U.S. under TPS, and why she believes it’s time for permanence, not another extension.
