The objective is to raise awareness about the homeless and issues that concern them. There are several ways this will be achieved.
Homeless United mission is dedicated to help raise awareness of homelessness. Not just that people are homeless, but the reasons behind why they are homeless. First step is the Red T-Shirt Campaign. There are an estimated 11,600 homeless people in the Washington, DC Area. The initial goal is to get a red t-shirt saying "Please Raise Awareness: #HomelessLivesMatter" into the hands of every homeless
person in the DC Area. Any additional funds will be donated to food and clothing banks along with placed that serve meals to the homeless. Second is too find homeless shelters that are really treating the homeless and people and not numbers, to provide them with funds to operate. Also, if there is an opportunity to acquire a building, to renovate it and turn it into a state of the art homeless shelter. Third, to help the homeless to reenter society by finding them places to live and helping them get back on their feet. Helping them with job training so they can find the best job suited for them. To help reteach some about social skills. Some folks have been living on the streets for so long, they need help to learn how to function in society again. Finally, to unite with other homeless organizations. To unite so efforts are not being duplicated and to build a strong coalition to combat the homeless problem.
