DC Gaels Ladies Football

The D.C. Gaels Ladies Football team competes in the North American GAA Mid-Atlantic Division. Gaelic football is arguably the fastest field game in the world.

Gaelic football is played mainly in Ireland but is quickly growing in popularity worldwide. The skills of the game are a combination of soccer, basketball, and American football with the physical aspect of rugby (to a lesser extent). 🚨 Former DC Gaels Ladies Footballers!! 🚨

The 2024 team will be playing in the District of Columbia THIS SATURDAY 12:30 at Carlini Field at Catholic University. This will be our first time playing in the District in well over a decade.

If you’d like to make a day of it, the rest of the schedule is:

12:30 Ladies Gaelic football
1:45 Hurling

The 2024 season is upon us and we are actively recruiting for new players. Never heard of Gaelic football? No stress! We are an amateur team, comprised of American and Irish players, aged 20-50+, most of whom did not start playing until their 20s.

All you need is athletic wear, tennis shoes or cleats (encouraged), water and lots of enthusiasm. Returning players and coaches will be there to teach you the basic skills.

Reach out with any questions you may have. Otherwise, we look forward to meeting you on Saturday March 23 and/or Saturday March 30!!

The Washington DC Gaels GAA is an amateur sports club that promotes Irish sports in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Join us for our new players' day and learn about some of the best sports you've never heard of. No Irish ancestry, prior experience or playing equipment is necessary; all are welcome!

While we will provide the playing equipment, if you plan to attend, please be sure to bring the following:
Cleats
Water
Appropriate sportswear
