Greystone Community Pool

What are the pool open days/hours now that school is closed? Thanks!
The pool is currently closed due to thunder and lightening. Please be careful in the parking lot tomorrow and through the weekend, as the heavy rain has caused cars to get stuck. It's best to park near Clarkes Gap Road on the higher ground.
Good morning all pool members! The heavy rain last night caused the Greystone Pool driveway and parking area to be very wet. Please take caution when driving in that area today as we don't want anyone to get stuck in the mud.
A big shout out and thank you to the GCPool team who spends their time and energy to make the little pool in the woods so wonderful; President Bob Thompson, Secretary/Marketing Wiz Meredith Imwalle, Treasurer Eddie Croft, Pool Master Tim Thomas and Life Guard Coral-er Sherry Speak! It was a wonderful summer at the Pool!

We hope everyone is staying healthy and sane during this crazy time. And we hope you’ll understand if we forego the typically fun, light-hearted tone of our communications and get serious for a moment.

First, we’d like to thank those of you who responded to our survey. We were happy to learn that there is a great deal of interest in joining the pool this year, even if things look a little different than what we’re used to. We could all benefit from the respite a community pool can provide.

Our volunteer board members (who are also community residents) have been monitoring the situation to determine when and how Greystone Pool can safely open in accordance with governmental regulations. Since phase one would allow for lane swimming only, and only a few of our members swim laps, we have decided to delay opening until phase two. Our best guess is that this will be in mid-June, but the situation is still uncertain. When we are finally able to open, we will implement additional safety measures, which may include: limiting admissions, implementing a block reservation system, removing communal toys and furniture, asking members to social distance, adding a hand wash station at the port-a-potty, sanitizing the hand wash station and port-a-potty a few times a day, and limiting (or disallowing) loitering around the pool deck. We assure you that however we proceed, we will follow guidelines issued by relevant county, state and federal agencies. Implemented measures will be monitored by our board members -- not the lifeguards, whose responsibility it is to ensure the safety of swimmers and water quality.

We expect to start accepting membership applications once we know when we can open under phase two. We will finalize and announce our safety measures at that time. Our hours will be determined based on the number of memberships we receive, and the membership price will be determined by the number of days left in the season.

We’re confident that our small, uncrowded pool can be a safe place to swim this summer. We’re working diligently toward that goal and will keep you posted.

—The Greystone Community Pool Board of Directors
