: 4-4-2 Diamond

In a 4-4-2 diamond, the midfielders play close to each other in a diamond shape. The two wide midfielders play as a double 8 with the lowest midfielder being the number 6 and the highest midfielder being the number 10.

The width in a 4-4-2 diamond shape is provided by the overlapping fullbacks, while the four midfielders control the game with short passes among themselves.
