Today and tomorrow the Wartburg Knights compete at the William Penn Invitational! The shoot will consist of 100 trap, 100 doubles trap, 100 super sporting, and 100 sporting.

This weekend our Knights kicked off the 2026-27 season with the World Super Sporting Championship and Customer Appreciation Shoot. Both events featured great targets that challenged our athletes and helped expand their target libraries. To top it off, we had some great accomplishments as well.

Kelly Maier finished as 3rd place Lady in the World Super Championship!🥉

Caden Grossman won C class at the World Super Championship🥇

Nolan Kent won D Class at the Customer Appreciation Shoot🥇

It was a great start to the year! We will be heading to Marion County for the William Penn shoot this weekend for our first intercollegiate competition. 🍊 ⚔️

Incoming freshman Kelly Maier had all she could "handle" in awards after a great extended weekend of shooting at the Wisconsin State Sporting Clays tournament! Kelly walked away winning Ladies FITASC, resident Lady Super Sporting, 5-Stand, and Prelim and finished 2nd HAA for Lady. Great shooting Kelly!

Wrapping up their respective high school senior seasons, our two incoming Knights both experienced great success! Kelly Maier placed 2nd Senior Varsity Female in super sporting and 4th place Senior Varsity Female in sporting clays at SCTP Nationals in Marengo, OH. Hayley Burke placed 2nd in the Senior Varsity Female division for super sporting at Iowa SCTP State and earned a place on the Iowa HOA Lady All-State team.

Just a few more weeks before move in! Can’t wait to have everyone on campus. Go Knights!🍊⚔️

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸 As we celebrate America’s 250th year, we are especially grateful for the freedoms we enjoy and the generations who have worked to protect them. Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and meaningful Fourth of July!

It's been a hot start to the summer for our current and future knights. ⚔️🍊

Hayley Burke had a great spring season capped off with some BIG numbers at the Iowa SCTP State Trap shoot. After being one of 12 shooters in the state to achieve a perfect 300 in singles, she capped off the trap season with podium finishes in all three trap disciplines for the season. At the State Championships, Hayley finished 2nd in Handicaps and 3 in Doubles for Lady, as well as 2nd in the HAA!

Kelly Maier had a great showing at the Leines 200, one of the nation's biggest sporting clays tournaments annually, winning Lady in the main event and taking home a coveted paddle! As she demonstrated at Leines, Kelly has been one of the best Lady shooters in the NSCA, which was recognized through her claiming the Lady spot on the North Central Regional team!

Sophomore Megan Swartzendruber demonstrated her natural ability and love for the spotlight at the IA SCTP State International Trap Championship where she took home honors as the top female shooter in the state!

We are proud of how well our young athletes are performing and know there are some great opportunities to shine in the near future! 💪🏻
