YOU CAN PAY ONCE OR PAY FOREVER. ITS UP TO YOU! Everyone thinks they’re a swim instructor these days. That because the ‘indoor year round swim school’ business model that is sweeping America. It’s like car dealerships. Every time you walk into one you ask yourself, ‘How in the world are they paying for this stuff?’ The answer you finally figure out is that the car dealership isn’t paying for that….You are! See, about 10 years ago, a few people got together and figured out that you can monetize swim lessons by building a pool indoor so you can go year round, then section that pool off into time slots, sell time slots to parents in 30 minute increments, and have them go only 1 day per week. By doing that, the kids never really learn because the time out of the water, the parents don’t complain (initially) because the cost is ‘conveniently’ debited from their bank account monthly, and they are swayed by the bright colors, and the idea that they are doing something valuable and important like teaching thier child to swim. Until reality hits. What is the reality? The turnover rate of teachers quitting and inexperienced sets in. You see your child not learning or progressing. You see 1 day each month being used for some purpose other than teaching your child to swim, like ‘Adventure Day’ or some other gimmick that is fun for the kids, but a money grab on you. After about a year and a couple of thousand dollars later, you figure out that this is not a swim school…that is the ‘hook’ to get you to join what amounts to a monthly membership based on your real and rational fear that your child could drown, and then the school capitalizes on that fear as a goal to keep you as long as they can. Now, let’s take this full circle. These young, poorly trained, inexperienced kids teaching these lessons figure out that they could make more money doing it themselves, and start leaving to do their own poor quality swim program, whether it is at thier house, your house, etc. Now, you have all these people out there calling themselves ‘swim teachers’, charging you as if they are an expert in their field, and we now have a situation where parents are inundated with inexperienced teachers, poor instruction, high prices and left with kids who can not swim. It is tragic…for those who haven’t caught on. Don’t let that be you. At SwimKids USA, we are a professional swim training school with over 41 years experience.
