Editorial: Stop yelling at referees. Sign up to be one instead. Let the referees officiate, let the players play and don’t make an already challenging situation worse.

Umpires we have to do better. We ask for respect from the coaches, players, and the fans; but then we do not show the same respect back.

This weekend I had an umpire say something to a catcher about blocking the ball. The catcher was 10u and first year playing. The catcher started crying and had to be removed from the game. This cannot happen!

It sucks getting hit by softballs and it stings, but these catchers are getting hit as well. If you need to say something approach the coach and ask for assistance, but do not say something to the catcher.

No doubt this year has been very challenging for BOSS Assigning. We experienced a tremendous amount of growing pains as we has a record breaking 25 tournaments that we assigned. We could not do it without the dedicated umpires that choose BOSS Assigning as their assignor. It also could not have happened without the tournaments putting their trust in us.

BOSS Assigning is always looking improve, and will improve for the next year. With the shortage of officials being a real thing, Look for BOSS Assigning to be selective on what tournaments it assigns, that way when you see that BOSS Assigning is assigning the tournament you know you have quality!

this is all that needs to be said, I had an umpire followed out to the parking lot by an angry fan at a recent tournament it is starting to go too far
